Real question, what does everyone here think of Roman Reigns? Do you hate him? If so, why? Do you think he's a victim of circumstance?
In my mind I do not hate Roman Reigns as the performer. I hate Roman Reigns as a character and that isn't his fault really.
In my mind the whole superhero Superman type booking doesn't work with anyone with mature eyes watching the product. It's why people eventually turned on Hogan, Cena, Roman. It's inevitable to happen. As kids you tend to like these guys because they're like larger than life super heroes. That is what Vince is wanting to book. He's constantly looking for the next Hogan or Cena instead of looking for the next Stone Cold or Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart in my mind. While those guys could be booked like super heroes at the same time you also grew a sense of thought that they could lose this match. You don't get that sense of doubt in regards to peek John Cena or current Roman Reigns. You never are given a sense Roman Reigns isn't going to win this match.
Things that work with baby faces in wrestling is being able to feel their pain and feel there emotion as they build up a comeback because they show weaknesses and it's then a triumph when they over come them. With the way guys like Cena and Reigns have been/were booked you don't get that from them so it leaves non kids with the thought process of "why the fuck should I care?" You get no exposed weaknesses to these guys because they're fucking Superman. Ya know what? Superman sucks! Give me characters that can be more grounded and can show weakness and defeat like a Spider-Man because that is something in my mind people can relate more too. Not some alien that is weak to like 1 or 2 rare things. People WANT to root for characters like that to overcome their weaknesses or to be vulnerable yet still come out on top. Not John Cena or Roman Reigns seemingly not having any of these and then it just becomes blah.
The thing is, Reigns isn't a bad performer in the ring. He can put on some good matches, we've seen them. He's not good on the mic but if he is kept to short promo's and not the long winded ones that Vince would allow Cena to ramble on with he can get the job done.
So in my mind, it's not that Roman is bad at his profession. He's simply a victim of how Vince McMahon wants to book him and that isn't his fault at all. It doesn't stop me from booing him because that's still the product that is being fed to me.
