Three hours back I finished cooking a sweet dish called rabdi. It took me 10.5 hours straight. All the time the gas was on low flame. I had to stir the milk every 15 mins to prevent it from burning. But the results were outstanding. I kept the dish in freeze for 3 hours and all my friends complimented me on getting it perfect. It's delicious. It looked exactly like this but I had more pistachios than almonds:
What's the thing that took you the longest time to cook?

Have you ever used the thing they call slow cooker? I would like to cook lentils in slow cooker.

Have you ever used the thing they call slow cooker? Yes I use a slow-cooker all the time. Everything from roast beef, chili, kielbasi, sauerkraut and pork, chicken etc. Made this in slow cooker and they turn out great. Chicken Wings.

The Big Night clip Yeah, the gimmick of his show is that he makes food dishes from movies and TV and Big Night (which I haven't seen) was his basis. I've done Il Timpano twice and it's really delicious.

I have to take a look at Il Timpano. I'm not familiar with it.
As for what I have done with some frequency, I would agree with a full turkey dinner, and I would add Deviled Eggs, done in large numbers, for a large get together. I like to get some things out-of-the-way, early in the procedure.
-- For a holiday turkey, I chop all of the vegetables for the dressing, the day before, put them into a zip-lock, and let them meld their flavors overnight. I've even peeled the potatoes, and soaked them, overnight. So that time is "on the clock," but not labor intensive, for overall preparation.
-- For deviled eggs, I take the eggs out of the carton, and lay them on their sides for a few hours before I steam them. I know that it sounds counter-intuitive, but it centers the yolks. I steam them, and put them into ice water, in the evening. And, I do the peeling/construction on the day of the event.

Gravy, and no, not the brown kind. I'm talking Sunday gravy with meatballs, sausage, bracciole, etc. Takes about 6 hours. Made a pot yesterday and had it with chicken parm cavatelli with ricotta, and garlic bread. House smells amazing whenever I cook it.

I didn't know that, thanks. I liked the movie because I liked the main actors and it was an interesting story with lots of cooking.

We all know what takes the longest time to cook. We are reminded of it every November.
