Early in August I am going to Scotland.
I have many reasons to go.
My mother's family came from there, I was there for a short time last year and want to discover more, butt the main reason is that I am determined to find 'True Scots/man/men'.
Luckily I am going in haggis season as well and my tour has several haggis hunts planned for our entertainment in the Highlands. I will be very cautious.
When it comes to the true Scotsman, what should I look for?

When it comes to the true Scotsman, what should I look for? I have been to Scotland. Glasgow is not that special. It's a student city it seems. Edinburgh is very cool. Do not forget to take the ghost tour. In the underground vaults of Edinburgh they used to torture people. Many people died there and there is a rumour that ghosts of those tortured people still reside. You can check if those ghosts actually exist by taking the ghost tour. They will frighten you but it will be exciting. Definitely take a trip to north western part of Scotland. Isle of Skye is mesmerisingly beautiful. In fact the whole trip from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye is breathtaking. You can drink the pure water of those clean and beautiful rivers. Do not forget to take mini cruise in Atlantic.

I have ancestors from Scotland but haven't made it there yet, even though I've traveled many other parts of Europe. How's the food there? I'm imagining that it's awful.

Oh! I did not know. I found a blog about a haggis pizza , but you must cut/paste the link. Probably due to my choice of green ink.

But that's the only way to know for sure. You do have a point there. Quite by chance last night, I ended up re-watching the lovely British movie Victoria and Abdul starring Dame Judy Dench. There was a wonderful line in it when she took her two Indian servants up to Scotland and made sure they were kept warm with woo ltartan livery suits ( not kilts) and when she asked Abdul how he liked it, he replied "It is a bit scratchy, Your Majesty!" to which she answered, " Everything in Scotland is 'scratchy'!" I LOLed and then thought of how Scotsmen cope with this problem and now we know why there must indeed, be a 'True Scotsman' ie one who can cope with the 'scratchy' on his nether regions!

I'm imagining that it's awful. Traditional Scottish breakfast is quite good at most of B&B and hotels. It differs with English breakfast in that it has baked beans and sometimes black pudding. I tried haggis and liked it a lot even though some of my friends later came to know about how it is made. Because there are many migrants you can pretty much get any food in Scotland but do definitely try haggis. They also think very highly of their Irn-Bru drink but I did not like that one.

I was NOT speaking to you.
What is your idea of a religious "quest", looking under kilts?

I've never been to Scotland, however, I can imagine that is probably somewhat cooler than in England, hence the need for scratchy, woollen clothes.
