Whether other Christians count them as Christians or not I as a non-Christian have no trouble in considering them Christians. We had a member called Geode who was a born Mormon but later turned to be more of a non-sectarian Christian. Sicilians tend to dismiss Milanese people as not true Italians, and vice versa. From a more external vantage point it's clear that both groups are Italian. It's a human trait, found all over the world, to not see close relatives objectively and mischaracterize them, and Christians are no different than the rest.

- Obedient humans can become Gods. - New Gods are created through celestial procreation. “You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me.“Isaiah 43:10- Heavens and earth were created by a council of Gods. ‘Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none.’”Isaiah 44:8
"To you it was shown that you might know that the LORD, He is God; there is no other besides Him.”Deuteronomy 4:35All three doctrines are derived from extra-biblical sources. Doctrines and Covenants & The pearl of great price. Mormons can claim to be Christian all they like but the fact is they’ve added their own books claiming them to be divinely inspired, even though the bible warns against it and teachings within that book greatly contradict what we find in the bible. These passages may be all from a version of the Bible, but they are from the OT, and therefore not teachings of Jesus Christ. Therefore, my second point still stands. Baptism, belief in God and Jesus, following teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, calling yourself Christian is enough to be a Christian. This may not be what sola scriptura adherents like the IRR believe; but their opinion can be taken as seriously as the opinion of flat-earthers or creationists. Meaning: Not at all.

phludowin LOL Goalposts swiftly shifted. In case you hadn’t noticed but Christians and Mormons both believe that the OT and NT is God’s word. So your objection is moot. But if it’s Christ’s teachings you seek? Here you go... ““The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”Mark 12:29 “How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?”John 5:44 So much for new Gods and council of Gods. Theres not only a conflict between orthodox biblical Christianity and Mormonism on the number of Gods but also a major difference in the nature God. For example. Christ teaches that God the Father is a spirit. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”John 4:24Mormonism by contrast teaches that God the father has a body of flesh and bones: “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.” D&C 130:22There are so many more major differences.

"How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?" John 5:44 "Now this is eternal life,c that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." John 17:3 "Jesus replied, “The first is this: ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!" OR "Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD." Mark 12:29

Cody™ , Eλευθερί : Nice quote mining on your part. I just skimmed the chapters in context, and came to the conclusion that they still don't clash with Mormonism. Short and most important reason: Mormons are not Israel. So unless Mormons call themselves Jews, my point stands.

For the most part I don't really give in to these "No True Scottsmans", though Mormonism does present a bit of a unique case in that they tack on their own book and mythology (Book of Mormons, Joseph Smith) on to the Bible. No. I pretty much consider every other group that claims Christianity to be Christian except Mormons. Even Jehovah’s Witnesses have more of a Christian basis and doctrine than Mormons do. The LDS doctrine and some of their most basic beliefs are just way too different. And the Book of Mormon contradicts the bible too often for it to be based on the same source belief.

For a poster with such a childlike belief in fundamentalist Christianity, it is no surprise that you would act like a child on here. I ask again. What does it matter to you what others believe?

Don’t even know where to begin. For a start Sicilian and Milanese people share the same racial/ethnic label with both groups born or with ancestry from Italy. One cannot change their race/ethnicity. This is why it is fallacious for Sicilians to dismiss Milanese as not true Italians and visa versa. That’s why the NTS is not applicable to religions because we’re talking about codified doctrines and philosophical beliefs. Therefore it is not a fallacy to classify Mormons as not true Christians if their proffessed beliefs are outside of or contrary to the belief set of Christianity. It’s about time you atheists abandoned the NTS card when attacking Christians as its completely illogical. All in all just a weak argument.

I really don't care that you are wasting your life on this Bible shit, whilst you seem to be invested in the notion that Mormons have no right to be associated with your precious Christianity. You DO care. Why do you care? What does it matter to you?

I merely point out the inconsistencies in their position pertaining to biblical orthodox Christian doctrine. BTW you’re not fooling anyone. It clearly bothers you what theists, Christians in particular, believe. You’re one of the most blatantly bitter axe to grind atheists here.
