Batman pretty much peaked in popularity with TDK. It doesn’t seem like there’s any conceivable way a hypothetical (wind I still have my doubts the Matt Reeves movie will ever get made) new movie could really showcase an impressive performance at the box office. Why even bother?

If it was good then easily a billion. As Emmerich put it so eloquently: Good movies work better.

If it was good then easily a billion. The LEGO Batman Movie was generally considered good, and it barely made over $300 million worldwide. I have trouble believing that a live action Batman movie would make that big of a difference.

I saw the movie and I enjoyed it but it's not something I'd go and pay to see. All my friends that go and see all these superhero movies didn't go to see it. My dad goes to see them and all he hasn't even watched it on TV. If they did a proper Batman movie that was as good as Wonder Woman it would likely make a billion.

Kid’s movies can be pretty popular. Simply being an animated family movie doesn’t seem like it would scare away mainstream audiences at large, especially given that The Incredibles 2 opened higher than BvS.

That's a Disney Pixar movie which is a brand in itself.
If they made a Lego Avengers movie it wouldn't make a fraction as much as the actual Avengers movies either.
Lego is associated with children so teenagers won't go to see it and the only adults who will go to see it will be the ones taking children. Superhero movies in general are for people of all ages though.
A good Batman movie would make a ton of money. Even Batman vs Superman made a huge sum of money and people didn't even like it.

For a Matt Reeves Batman movie, I think the ceiling would be $750-$800 million. I think $650 million is a safe bet overall.

Parents aren't going to take their kids to rewatch a Lego Batman movie like they would a Frozen or a Brave. Or even The Lego Movie. And rewatching the movies is what get the B.O. that high.

BvS actually greatly underperformed. It was expected to be a billion dollar film, but it couldn’t even cross $900 million.

Yeah but that's what I'm getting at, even when the movie wasn't any good and was a financial disappointment it still made almost $900 million. It had the fourth highest global opening at the time. It just fell apart quick which wouldn't have happened had it been as good as Wonder Woman. Then it would have easily have made a billion.

If it was good then easily a billion. For sure. And if it looks bad then about $600M.
