The trailer looks like a pretty good action movie. Anybody planning to see it in theaters?

Apparently they're planning a miniseries attached to it called The Kiev Exchange.

It's too bad his movies don't seem to make money these days. Peter Berg has really come a long way since Battleship.

Lone Survivor was quite profitable at least but yeah the other two Marky Mark / Berg collabs didn't make jack shit at the box office which is a shame cause I thought Patriot's Day was excellent. Deepwater Horizon was a total bomb but it was interesting too . To answer the OP's question , absolutely will be seeing this in theaters . I think it'll be an entertaining action film!

It looks like it could be good, but any movie with Ronda Rousey in it makes me cautious.

I don't see the appeal of Rousey whatsoever.

I saw at a screening Wed. Think it's pretty average. An agonizing 30-40 minutes to start with bad jokes and stilted dialogue. Once the actual mission begins, it becomes a little better. But holy hell, while the action is overall good, Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg must have overdosed on cocaine. WAY too many cuts in this movie that serve little to no purpose.
Only 90 minutes so that's good.

No problem man. Def get around to seeing yourself. I'd still view a sequel, which looks like it is coming. But this is a mild disappointment, kind of like Jason Bourne. Both movies with good trailers imo that ended up being average at best.

Don't know about all that, but I think they believed Ronda would be a bigger star and talent than she actually is and midway through they needed to go to Wahlberg to "save" things.

Full spoilers ahead, be warned. Kind of an odd film, I can't tell if it's trying to glorify its own premise or condemn it. It clearly does not want to take sides politically, prominently featuring references to multiple Presidents of the US. It was as long as it needed to be and the action sequences were a blast for the most part (though as others have pointed out, they went berserk in the editing room). Wahlberg was engaging in this film; he's played the tough guy and the wiseass before, but he was a straight up asshole in this flick. It's a bold choice to make your lead borderline unlikeable, but Wahlberg tapped into something unique here. It could just be a fluke, but I'll give the film credit for that.
Now for the criticism. For a film featuring this much h2h combat, why cast Rousey only to kill her off before she ever throws a punch? I understand she's more of a grappler and maybe she isn't the world's greatest actor, but her presence ultimately serves as a distraction since she literally doesn't do anything but get blown up while the other woman has a knockdown, dragout brawl with a dude (which I rather enjoyed).
The film's end suggests a potential sequel, but I'm curious as to why the audience would be interested. You introduce a black ops team that immediately gets its ass handed to it and most of them are dead. Where do we go from here, and why do we care? Again, I respect a bold choice like having the villains win, but maybe save that for the sequel, when we have more invested in the characters and you've shown Overwatch to be competent in the least? I also don't know if American audiences want a movie about the Russians outsmarting us, considering today's political climate.
All in all 4/10, which is the low end of 'average' in my book. There are a few scenes I could rewatch, but I don't imagine I'd ever sit down to watch this flick from start to finish again.
