I don't want this to cause any problems so please dont but I wanted to ask people who they think does better when it comes to these things.
Movies - Does Marvel or DC have the better movies? Obviously the MCU and X-men count together.
Casting - Who have the better actors for the roles? Like DC has Christopher Reeve, Michael Keaton and Heath Ledger and Marvel has Hugh Jackman, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.
Heroes - Who has the better heroes in general.
Villains - Who has the better villains in general.
Cartoons - Who has the better cartoons?
Cartoon Movies - Same as above.
Video Games - Which makes the better games?
Comics - Who have the better comics?
Overall - Just which do you prefer out the two?

Video Games - n/a

I don't get why people are giving the villains to DC. I mean, outside Batman's rogue gallery and a few from Superman, majority of DC villains are crappy.

Movies - DC clearly. Superman: The Movie is the template for which MCU movies use. And The Dark Knight Trilogy is considered by most critics and general audience to be the best superhero trilogy ever. If you look at the best superhero movies by decade, it's a clean sweep for DC. 1970s - Superman: The Movie 1980s - Superman II 1990s - Batman Returns 2000s - The Dark Knight 2010s (so far) - Wonder Woman
Casting - DC. Besides Christopher Reeve as Superman and Heath Ledger as the Joker, DC also hit home runs with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Heroes - DC and it's not even close. Marvel's so-called "heroes" are too selfish and put their own agendas and selfishes wishes above the greater good. And then there's Captain America, a wanna-be tyrant who refuses to sign the Accors simply because he thinks tht since the Avengers are more powerful than the people, the Avengers don't have to answer to the people even though his team directly caused the deaths of many innocent civilians and also refuses to let his best friend Bucky have a trial by a jury of the people and instead makes himself judge and jury and declares that his best friend Bucky is innocent even though he knows that Bucky brutally murdered Howard and Maria Stark.
As for DC, Superman is the most powerfrul person on Earth but he chooses not to be a ruler and chooses to respect the authority of the people and is willing to answer to the people, like when he surrendered to the US government in MoS even though they had no power to force him to and also when he appeared before a Congressional hearing when summoned even though they had no power to force him to. That alone makes Superman more heroic than the wanna-be tyrant Captain America and every other so-called "hero" in MCU and that alone is why wanna-be tyrant Captain America and all the other so-called "heroes' in MCU will never be as great a hero as Superman is.
Villains - Are we talking about movies only or comics and movies? Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four have good villains in Marvel, but Superman, Batman, and Flash all have good villains in DC. It's probably a push.
Cartoons - DC obviously. There was Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Young Justice.
Cartoon Movies - DC. Does Marvel even make animated movies?
Video Games - Don't know. I haven't played the video games so I can't say.
Comics - DC
Overall - DC

Movies - Marvel.
Seems pretty clear, that's a vast amount more Marvel movies than DC for starters. The Dark Knight is my favourite movie of all time, I don't believe there will ever be a superhero movie as good ever again but outside of Batman (which they've also had problems with), they've struggled a lot with only Wonder Woman and three Superman being any good.
Casting - Tie
This is a tough one because DC probably have more iconic castings. I'm pretty undecided on this one, Christopher Reeve, several from the Tim Burton movies, several from the Chris Nolan movies, Henry Cavill's and Gal Gadot are all pretty good.
But then there's a few from the X-men movies like Hugh Jackman. I think most of the MCU casting has been good especially for Downey Jr, Evans, Hiddelston, Hemsworth, Pratt, Cumberbatch and so on.
Heroes - Marvel
Even though Batman is my favourite Superhero, I've not overly bothered with the other DC characters, Superman is pretty good and so is the Flash but other wise not so bothered. Meanwhile Marvel has Spider-man, X-men, Fantastic Four. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Panther etc.
Villains - DC
The Joker is one of the greatest villains of all time. Batman easily has the best villain roster. Outside of that Superman has some good ones with Brainiac, Lex Luthor and Darkseid.
Cartoons - DC
That's an easy one. Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League. Marvel did have a good Spider-man and X-men show but that's about it. Four against two really.
Animated Movies - DC
Obviously, there's like 20-30 DC animated movies and some are fantastic. Marvel did a few over a decade ago and none were that good.
Video Games - DC
The Batman Arkham games are the best superhero games of all time. I'm not too into fighting games but Injustice was pretty good. Marvel had some decent games back in the PS2 days with the Spider-man games now they also seem to have the Lego games. New Spider-man game might change things though.
Comics - Marvel
I actually read every Marvel comic in the Ultimate line. I've also read hundreds of Spider-man comics and other stories like Civil War. I haven't read nearly as many DC comics except a bunch of Batman. It's too other worlds for me I think.
Overall - Marvel
Mainly because the movies have done a better job of representing a huge variety of the characters I'm just more familiar with it. Being set in the real world with slightly more down to earth characters compared to DC, I just find it easier and more accessible to get into.

Movies - Marvel.
Despite some decent films based on DC comics - Superman 1 & 2, Burton and Nolan Batman, The Losers, Watchmen - Marvel still has so far had better films or at least more decent films than DC
Casting - Tie
Casting in general for both has been good. I would have loved to have seen Bob Hoskins as Wolverine as originally intended, but Jackman did a fine job and made the character his own. Some of the less poular casting choices in DCEU - Affleck & Eisenberg - I have liked
Heroes - Marvel
DC may have the most iconic, but Marvel beats DC easily. Always found Marvel heroes are more human and relateable. In general it seems that Marvel characters are normal people dealing with the burden of their powers. DC heroes not so much
Villains - Tie
Outside the Batverse DC has few villains I would call great. Marvel has a decent roster of bad guys, but it seems that DCs are better becuase they like to re-use the popular ones over and over.
Cartoons/Animated Movies/Video Games - N/A
Not really in a position to judge. Not seen enough to put one over the other. I caught chunks of some of the Batman animated movies...not interesting enough to keep me watching
Comics - Marvel
In the 60's (and to a lesser extent the 70's) compared to Marvel, DC was laughable and embarrassing. They had one or two titles that were interesting - some early Green Lantern for instance, but on the other hand there was absolute crap like Wonder Woman. The different take on characters, the level of writing and the art work had Marvel head and shoulders above DC
80s was the best decade for DC. Marvel didn't get any worse, but DC taking on board the likes of Alan Moore and Frank Miller really did improve. And Batman had at last become a really interesting character, with really interesting storylines.
90s was a decade I sort of avoided in comics. The quality of the art work in a lot of comics was horrendous, which put me off both publishers. The overly muscled men, and huge tits tiny waist women art was so bad.
2000s - Marvel really improved with the "Ultimate" universe. DC I didn't notice any vast improvements. The art was better, the stories dull. The amount of DC issues I buy/read regularly has reduced to virtually zero. Still buy a few Marvel titles. But for me Image is where the best comics are coming from
Overall: MARVEL

Who cares about comics anymore? Marvel does far better movies and TV, which is really all that matters to a large majority of the population. Marvel also has much better villains today at least. The DCEU has crap villains and Kingpin, Cottonmouth, Killgrave, Bushmaster, etc. are all better villains than anyone on the DC shows besides Slade Wilson.

Movies - Everyone picks Marvel! I agree. No contest.
Casting - The Best - Robert Downey Jr. The Worst - Jesse Eisenberg In general, Marvel casting has been good/great. DC casting has been fair/good. Marvel wins this one without breaking much of a sweat.
Heroes - The most interesting heroes are from Marvel, which to me makes them better. They are as capable of making mistakes as they are of great heroics.
Villains - One can argue endlessly as to who has the better villains. However, the worst villains clearly goes to DC. Richard Prior, Nuclear Man, every single movie iteration of Lex Luthor, culminating in the Eisenberg disaster, Joker, Two-face, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Steppenwolf, Sir Patrick Ares, Enchantress. Marvel has a few weak villains, but I can't think of any that are as cringe-worth as these.
Cartoons - Why don't we give this one to DC. It would be a shame if they went home empty handed.
Comics - Another category I care not about. DC can have this one too.

Movies - Marvel so far has done the better job there. You cant deny the better overall planning and execution. They're killing it. I say so far because I still think that DC can still get their act together, if they focus.
Casting - that's a matter of opinion. There no doubt that Marvel has done a great casting job, but so has DC. People may not like Ben Affleck personally but a lot of folks are saying how he actually did alright. Some even say he's their favorite Batman so far. And you cant deny that casting Heath Ledger was an amazing decision. So... this one is a matter of opinion.
Heroes - Who has the better heroes in general? Again a matter of opinion. Its been said that the Marvel characters are more "accessible" while the DC characters are more "iconic". Personally I prefer the DC characters because they are the grand-daddies of the super hero genre, but again, this is a matter of opinion. Although IMO, you cant deny when it comes to superheroes... its all about Superman and Batman. Everything stems from them.
Villains - Who has the better villains in general? This is neither here nor there. Only one villain on either side has been TRULY remarkable in comparison to the heroes; and those are: Heath Ledgers Joker and Josh Brolins Thanos. Aside from the those two... meh.
Cartoons - Who has the better cartoons? By far DC is crushing it here. Cartoon Movies - Same as above. Yes, same as above.
Video Games - Which makes the better games? I couldn't say. But probably Marvel.
Comics - Who have the better comics? RIGHT NOW? 2018? DC. Marvel has been throwing all kinds o' crap at the wall in the hopes that something would stick, but DC did Rebirth right, and are knocking it out of the park as of this writing.
Overall - Just which do you prefer out the two? Again, its a matter of opinion. I will always have a slight preference of DC even though I can acknowledge that Marvel movies and the Marvel brand are overall much more popular. To be honest, its a sad state of affairs that there is even a competition in the fanbase. I've always enjoyed BOTH and don't see why others cant do the same.

Live-Action Movies: Marvel
Animated Movies: DC
Casting Live-Action: Marvel
Casting Animated: DC
Heroes: Tie
Villains: Tie
Cartoons: DC, but it's close
Video Games: Tie. Marvel has the Ultimate Alliance series, some really good Spider-Man games, and Marvel vs Capcom. DC has Batman Arkham and Injustice
Comics: If we are talking comics from the 60s through the early 90s, it is a tie. They were both amazing. If we are talking modern comics, than DC definitely wins. Marvel's comics have unfortunately been on a downward spiral in quality since the late 90s, with only some good ones since then.
Overall: I honestly like them both equally.

I am going to say
Movies - Marvel (Marvel has the Spider-Man movies, the X-Men movies, the Men In Black movies, the Blade movies and the MCU movies which are some of the most successful movies of all time.
Casting - Marvel. However in terms of DC I think their actors in TV shows have been better than their actors in movies Dean Cain was the best Superman, Lynda Carter was the best Wonder Woman, Laura Vandervoort was the best Supergirl, Michael Rosenbaum was the best Lex Luthor, Grant Gustin is the best Flash, Elena Satine was the best Mera and Lee Thompson Young was the best Cyborg.
Heroes - DC especially when it comes to female characters which I read the most. Marvel have some good female characters but DC has Wonder Woman, Supergirl (Kara Zor-El and Linda Danvers), Batgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna, Raven, The Huntress, Starfire, The Spoiler, Orphan, Lady Blackhawk, Strix, Batwoman, Flamebird/ Hawkfire, Bluebird, Wonder Girl (Donna and Cassie) Misfit, Knightfall, Catwoman, Silver Swan, Medusa/Decay, Harley Quinn, Caitlin Fairchild, Zealot, Sarah Rainmaker, Cheetah, Saturn Girl, Katana, Lynx, Hyrax, Poison Ivy, Nocturna, The Absence, Stargirl, Vixen, Circe among others who are among my favourites. Although I think Image Comics has been the best when it has come to female characters.
Villains - Definitely DC. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Supergirl, Batgirl, Nightwing, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans, Justice Society of America and Gen 13 have had a lot of great villains over the years.
Cartoons - DC
Cartoon Movies - Same as above.
Video Games - DC (The Arkham games are the best superhero video games of all time as another member pointed out but I have liked some of the 'Spider-Man' video games like 'Spider-Man 1, 2, 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man and liked 'The Amazing Spider-Man' video game far more than the movie)
Comics - DC (I have read a very large amount of DC comic book series over the years and the 'Supergirl/ Linda Danvers series by Peter David and Batgirl New 52 series by Gail Simone are two of my all time favs.
Overall - DC but my favourite comic book company is Image Comics followed by Dynamite Entertainment and Aspen Comics.

Live-Action Movies: DC has very high peaks and very low valleys. Where Marvel is consistently good since 1998: Winner Marvel
Animated Movies: I've liked a handful of Marvel Animated Movies, but hands down DC wins this. Winner DC
Casting Live-Action: Both are good. DC swings for the fences which gives them some of the bigger misses. Winner Marvel
Casting Animated Movies: As Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle are the only Voice Actors I care about, lets look. Tara Strong was only in 2 Marvel Movies Thor and Doctor Strange. She has been in 10+ DC movies. Mark Hamill has been in 1 Marvel Animated Movie Ultimate Avengers 2. He has been in 4 DC Movies. Kevin and Will kill it as Batman/Batman Beyond. Winner DC
Heroes: DC has Gods trying to be Human. Marvel has normal Humans with Human problems burdened with Powers. I find the human condition leagues more interesting. Winner Marvel
Villains: DC has the single best Villain (joker), but he is just Chaos incarnate. He isn't the style of villain I find interesting usually. I find flawed people who think they are heroes of their own story best. Marvel has has more of this type and better examples than DC. Winner Marvel
Cartoons: Marvel has my single favorite Cartoon X-men: TAS, but DC has a multitude of better cartoons. Winner DC
Video Games: This hard for me. I am more retro gamer. I don't own anything past PS3/Xbox360/WII generation. From 1986-2008 era games they are pretty equal. Winner Tie
Comics: I own Graphic Novels from each company, but I own more from Dark Horse. Winner Dark Horse (Shit I forgot about the 16 Marvel Dark Tower Collections. This would Edge out Dark Horse)
Overall: Marvel
