So it was brought up on a podcast I listen to frequently I believe last week's episode of "The Masked Man Show" from The Ringer mentioned that Bryan's contract runs out in October and it's questioned on whether or not he will re-sign with WWE or move on elsewhere.
They brought up the idea that WWE/Vince isn't currently interested in booking him like a top babyface due to his medical issues and fear that something will happen again hence why he's being booked the way he is currently in lesser feuds and now tag team work with Kane. The thought was that he's being put out there in safe situations and so that fans can get there cheers in but that there isn't any real interest in pushing him to the top again because of his medical.
I honestly believe this to be true. WWE/Vince didn't seem to want to book Bryan as a top guy BEFORE his medical issues so this in my mind is the nail in the coffin.
What do you all think is going to happen here? Will Bryan stay and continue to possibly be booked as an upper mid card nostalgia act basically or will he move on to where he can actually have more freedom to do the art that he wants to do?
I personally think he's leaving the moment he can unless he can get some sort of assurances from the WWE that he'll be handled to his liking and honestly, I don't think that's something that WWE can promise him in a contract.
So I think they're going to give us the pay off of Miz/Bryan at Summerslam because he's not for sure signed through next years WrestleMania. In my mind if we don't get it at Summerslam than I'd say that leaves a strong possibility that he is staying.

It isn't just Vince McMahon, I have been saying this even before Daniel Bryan first got injured.
WWE Creative Just Does Not Like Daniel Bryan!

"According to @pwstream, the WWE is preparing for Daniel Bryan leaving the company when his contract expires on September 1st. According to the report, WWE is booking Bryan for matches and storylines that were originally planned for the rest of the year.
It was noted that the current plan is for The Miz to interfere in Bryan's Extreme Rules match to prevent Team Hell No from becoming WWE Tag Team Champions, which will lead to Bryan facing The Miz at SummerSlam. The report also stated that The Miz is slated to win at SummerSlam, although there have been "loose talks" of Bryan winning if he were to sign a contract extension, which would lead to a final match at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Bryan reportedly recently hired the same agency as John Cena for his contract negotiations, which is why he still hasn't re-signed."

I'd terminate his contract with immediate effect.

I'd terminate his contract with immediate effect. Why? Having Miz go over on him at Summerslam would be huge for Miz going forward. If Bryan is leaving anyways use him as a way to get others over.

That's a shame. WWE is wasting one of their biggest baby faces in the company. No doubt Bryan will walk if he feels they aren't fully invested in him. Too bad. He could have classic matches against this new breed of talent WWE currently has.
Hopefully, we'll get to see him take on at least AJ Styles and Nakamura before he leaves.

He had a match with Styles on a Smackdown episode but Nakamura interfered in it creating a DQ. Maybe we get another one at some point. I hope he comes back on like a limited schedule but I'm not holding out much hope for it tbh.
