I’m pretty sure the ancient Egyptians were generally dark skinned. Tomb art (which make distinctions between Egyptian and foreigner portrayals) as well as DNA reconstructions confirm they were not Sub-Saharan African. There's dark-skinned and then there is dark-skinned.

Wasn’t your whole argument that the wizard should be white? I’m pretty sure the ancient Egyptians weren’t actually white, so what’s your problem?

No my argument was that he shouldnt be sub-Saharan African black. If he was white (European or light-skinned Egyptian if you prefer) then there is no reason to change it except for political messaging reasons.

What political messaging? They’re not getting a black guy to play JFK. It’s a fictional character who isn’t even European. The only reason the character was initially depicted as being white in the first place was because people wouldn’t have accepted anything else back in 1939.

They did the same thing in Thor where the most important god character in Asgard was an African. Its SJW political nonsense.

Nope-unless you can show how the Wizard is actually not the one who gives him is power. Or that the gatekeeper in Asgard wasn't the one protecting the realm. Odin didnt seem to do that much.

The protagonist of Shazam! is a white kid/man. True or false?

The protagonist of Shazam! is a white kid/man. True or false? So I hear. I dont know the actor's heritage. But the guy who gives him his power is now black. Why is that multicultural element required? Is there something dangerous about having a white guy give the power to another white guy? Is there a danger a Neo Nazi cell will emerge from it?

Is that the first actor to be in a MCU and DCEU movie? That title would go to Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who was in both Suicide Squad and Thor: Ragnarok.

He was white back in the past because the wanted to sell comic books to young white boys who were the majority of readership at that time. Today the playing field is different and the Wizzard, Mamaragan, can be a person of color if the powers that be choose to make him more approachable to a global audience. These are fictional characters, and do not have to hold to any altruism in a marketplace where one has to sell to more than just white customers.

These are fictional characters, and do not have to hold to any altruism in a marketplace where one has to sell to more than just white customers. But why make the power person black? I could understand it happening once--but every time? There is nothing in marketing that would require they make the most important power character in the concept African.
In the case of the BBC, they are still primarily catering to a white majority population yet they made Achilles-the greatest warrior of the Greeks, a black man.
It's a political decision, not economic.
In fact, one of the major comics company executives said forced diversity had hurt sales, not helped it.

Well, at least we can potentially see The Rock vs Djimon Hounsou in the Black Adam movie.

Why are we just now hearing about this? The movie finished filming back in May. . Seems to me that the director runs a tight ship unlike the Snyder films with their constant behind the scenes drama.

So he’s playing two different DC characters in the same universe and playing a Marvel character. Nice.

I know it’s just a still, but that image looks impressive from a visual standpoint.
