Would someone who has seen this film explain to me how they could come upon a house (not a true cabin) in the middle of nowhere without a road in sight. You would need a road to build this house to get the materials up there and to furnish it with "regular" furniture. Thanks.

It was a safe house for militia members who convened there monthly.

I enjoyed the movie too but this structure was more like a house than a rugged cabin. It had large windows and a storm door , a refrigerator and a regular bed. In order to build this structure, I would think you would need a road to get the equipment up the mountain to build it. Oh well, I guess that's "Hollywood" for you.

I saw the movie but never picked up on no road. Refresh my memory. Did they say in the movie there was no road or you just did not see one while watching the movie?

I don't remember if they said there was no road or not but snow covered everything and they were headed down the mountain to find a highway and the path back to "civilization", I didn't read the book so I don't know if there would have been a logging road near the house, it just didn't seem like the type of home you would find that high up a mountain.

Building materials for a cabin/house can be flown in by helicopter or plane if there's no road access. And during the winter snowmobiles are often used to transport whatever you need to inaccessible areas.
