This is the second time that I was rummaging through the top shelf of my closet and was almost knocked over by a falling avalanche of yet to be read books. And now the Book Horde is starting to take over my dresser Am I the only one with this problem or do you just buy books as you go reading or Kindling along?

I have a pretty sizable collection but I'm sure is dwarfed by plenty. However, I have a substantial collection of the old black spined Penguin Classics (from the late 1960's and 1970's) and a big collection of the Ballantine Illustrated History of World War II (or Violent Century). I have plenty of others too though, mostly unread. I have a Kindle also, but it's been put in my nightstand where it rarely sees the light of day anymore. I like paper too much.

I love to hoard books , and a lot of other things as well - collector's editions of movies , and clothes , anything really ! And I tend to buy everything in bulk too ! But when a lot of the bookstores near me closed in the 90's & 00's , I began travelling to further bookstores , but they then closed , so then it was to online purchases . But the joy of it faded . And now it's maybe 5 books a year , and an occasional digital (Kobo) book that may be recommended . If the digital age had not come about , I would probably have had to move into an industrial block to store the collection !

I have all the later Star Trek series novels lurking in the back there somewhere, keep telling myself that I will actually read them all sometime. Then there are all of the Rumpole of the Baily books that I bought in a large box a few years ago that fell on me from the right side of the closet ,,,,now those I am going to read for sure, the list is pretty long, especially with some of the large fantasy series, like the misc 'Forgotten Realms' truly forgotten for sometime now. And let's not even go into the History books.

I have been collecting books since I was 11 years old, I started off with one shelf on my whole bookcase, and I was very proud of that, a lot of them were Mary Roberts Rinehart mysteries, but I kept getting more, and more, then I started going to library book sales, then I started going to a thrift store where they're 10 for a dollar...a few years ago I counted 3,000 books, most of which I haven't read, I wouldn't even be able to count them now, probably 6,000 or so. Most of which I still have not read, but this year I'm finally getting around to some of them to determine what to keep and what to get rid of. For a while I was reading 1 book a day but that was a while ago.

When I read on paper I usually kept it to books that I would read. Maybe up to twenty or so unread and the rest read. When they stood in rows upon rows in the bookshelves I started peeking at my Ipad and reading e-books. Now it's hundreds of unread books but they don't take up space anymore. I won't go back to paper.

I don't keep everything, but I do keep a lot. Especially my nonfiction stuff and anything I expect to reread.

I have a huge collection of books where I live .I order from the Internet books, since the closest bookstore doesn't have much of a selection and the next bookstore is 15 to 20 minutes by car..

I used to but I got rid of them all when I got a kindle (apart from my Harry Potter box set, I can't bear to get rid of it because the box is so nice). I'm now a digital hoarder and have loads that I haven't read yet, but it's so much better than clutter. If I didn't have a kindle I'd need a much bigger apartment, or I'd be on one of those shows where people live in a crap-hole and can't find the cat.

I'm a bit of a hoarder in general, but yes. I've been hoarding books since I was like 7 years old. Got lots of books geared towards children. Kinda fun to read as an adult.
A few friends and I do a book swap every once in a while, that's the only way I get rid of books.

I don't really collect books, I don't have much room because of all the records and CDs, but between myself and the wife, there's probably 200 or so books filling shelves around the house. I keep the ones that I absolutely love, but I do tend to trade most of 'em at my local book-swap place.

Yeah I have a pretty good collection though it isn't a library by any stretch of the imagination. There's only a few I haven't got around to reading yet.

Yeah, lately though I have been getting more and more books on Kindle. My house does not have a lot of room for storage and I read so many books it was becoming a problem.

There was a gap in college where I didn't read for fun so I've been catching up ever since.

I have probably 30 books stored in my closet and I have read like 25 of them so there is literally 5 unread books in there that I havent even touched since I bought them (or one was a gift actually). Once I clear my plate tho then I will read them.

Yes, I have thousands of books, with the emphasis on non-fiction. Things are crowded in the 'man cave' but reasonably in order so I can find stuff. I normally have several on the go at once, either for different places in the house or simply because I pick something up and start it out of interest before being distracted. I know I will never get to read them all, and have forgotten how many of the fiction works plot out. But I am still buying more, and wouldn't be without them.
