Common consensus seems to be the size of South Anerica. Which is silly.
Personally I think Westeros should be of a length stretching from Scotland to North Africa.

As far as I remember the only known measure from Martin is that the wall stretches for about 500 KM. This means average breadth of Westeros is less than average breadth of SA even though Westeros hasn't got as pronounced peninsula shape as SA. I think the distance between extreme points of SA is too large for westeros. However, sometimes we are not able to estimate the impact of northern part of westeros. That is also very large in relation to size of entire continent. In my opinion Westeros's size would be 3/4th the size of SA mainland. But its area will be less because its breadth is not that wide.

I guess both area and length? I'm not a geographer and neither is GRRM. He's the one who compared it to South America.
As for...area/width, I might pick the size of France?

The Wall is said to be 300 miles long. It is also 700 feet high and stupid fat lizards can fly, which is all equally silly. The man who designed it all is absurdly large too. Maybe that explains everything. Here are your answers:

Just as I said the area of SA is much greater than that of Westeros because the breadth of Westeros is far less than breadth of SA (300 mile roughly equal to ~500Km). Distance from northern tip to southern tip does seen comparable to SA but I do think the person who made the scale has rather exaggerated it.

I doubt GRRM ever thought of such things. In S1E10, Yoren says "It's a thousand leagues from here to the Wall" and I doubt we'd come to the same ratio if we were to measure the trip on a map, supposing we picked a half way proper definition for the league in the first place. These things are kept vague on purpose. All we are meant to take from it is that distances are huge. Robert's retinue travelled for a month to Winterfell. People blame it on Cersei's wheelhouse but I know the fat drunk was just to heavy for his horse and wouldn't ride more than an hour without having to stop for a long piss and another drink

It's playing time The Wiki of Ice and Fire states that the Wall is 100 leagues long. Using this as a reference, I measure a rough distance of 700 leagues from Castle Black to King's Landing, not 1000. Make it 850 to account for bends and Yoren still knows nothing, or cannot count, or is just making it look longer. My guess is that he's not too sure in which order 7, 8 and 9 come so he rounds it up.

I was going to write a post to him that he has fcked it up but it seems it was in his fate to listen to insults. Seems some people do not understand when people give their own views and when people give views of others.
