Any fans of the franchise here? The original is my second favorite horror flick right behind Halloween.

The original was great, one of the best horror films ever made IMO. After that, I've only ever seen the sequel, The Next Generation and the remake, all of which I didn't enjoy.

There's no better excitement than watching the original ... and there's been nothing but heartache ever since by films that are not worthy of comparison. I'm so ready for Leatherface (2017) ... Rate9.0 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) 4.0 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) 2.0 Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990) 2.0 Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) 5.0 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) 5.0 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) 3.0 Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013) ---- Leatherface (2017 Hopefully)

I love the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's THE perfect backwoods horror film: raw, real and no-holds-barred! Not surprisingly, it's never been topped. The sequels and remake and prequel just don't do it for me... well, aside from the totally messed up Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, that is. I actually kinda like that one.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of my top favorites too. And it has my favorite soundtrack for any horror movie ever.
I did enjoy the cheesy duel scene in TCM 2 but I don't care for anything else outside of that. The 2003 remake and 2006 prequel were decent but not memorable. The rest of the installments were awful.
The documentaries about the filming of the original movie are more entertaining than the other installments in the series.

The original is also my 2nd favorite horror film, only after 'Night of the Living Dead' (1968).
I'm also a big fan of the 2nd one. Hooper was wise to go in a more comical direction. There was really no way to top the first.
The remake has its moments, but it's nothing special to me.
All the others, I don't really care for (though I really don't remember the 3rd, it's been years)

Overall, I enjoy the franchise. None of the sequels, remakes, prequels, etc. can match the brilliance of the landmark original film, though.

I need to rewatch the original soon. It's been a long time since I've sat down and watched it.
Back in the late 90's I went to my town's haunted house around Halloween time. We came upon the very last room and there was Gunnar Hansen, Edwin Neal, and Marilyn Burns. There was a tv set up and TCM was playing. I would have loved to have stuck around and watched the movie with them. I'm sure they would have had some great stories to tell.

Any fans of the franchise here? The original is my second favorite horror flick right behind Halloween. Original is one of my favorite movies. Also a fan of the remake. And thought TCM: The Beginning was a pleasant surprise and is underrated. 3D is a guilty pleasure of mine. One of those 'its so bad - its good' movies. The part where the female heroine throws the chainsaw to Leatherface and states, 'Do your thing Cuz!' is awkwardly jaw dropping hysterical and rates a 9 out of 10 on the 'Cheese-O-Meter'.

Good Lord, that part is cringe inducing.

Still waiting for "Leatherface". What a mess. I feel bad for the Filmmakers. Even if it's not great I'd probably still enjoy it. Can't be worse than "3D".

Only seen the original, and I think that was enough. The opening of that movie is about the scariest part, the sights and sounds and that music, all freaky as hell.

Only seen the original. Found it utterly terrifying. Would regard it as the scariest horror movie of the 70s alongside Alien (1979).

I'm a pretty decent fan of the franchise. The original is a horror masterpiece. Part 2 and 3 and the remakes are also good and tons of fun. Texas Chainsaw 3D and Leatherface were okay but there are aspects that I didn't care for in both. And Next Gen was just a hot mess.
