I'm ashamed to admit I forgot his birthday by a few days. He was born July 10, 1931. Better late than never. Don Porter, Eve Arden and Nick Adams in Our Miss Brooks (1956) Nick is best known as a rebel. Here he is in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) alongside James Dean, Natalie Wood and Perry Lopez

What is this doing in the religion forum? Anyway, he has a particular distinction, he did movies with Boris Karloff and Godzilla.

From Nick Adams bio on IMDb: He is one of four actors typically named in connection with the "Rebel Without a Cause (1955) Curse", a widely repeated urban legend. If you go to James Dean's bio, it talks more about the "curse"; James Dean, Nick Adams, Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood all died young and tragically.

Did you know Doris Day is still alive? I was really surprised to find that out. Well, yes, but her contemporary, and someone else with an alliterative stage name, is dead. I'm referring of course to Patti Page who died January 1, 2013. Both PP and DD were singers but only Doris had anything that could be described as acting ability. Say what you will, but Doris in Sentimental Journey and other tunes uplifted the spirit. By contrast, the songs of Patti Page were depressing, moody, downright creepy. I often heard Doggie in the Window and Tennessee Waltz in my childhood and found them really melancholy. Did you know that Patti Page performed Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the same genre of misery inducing songs? There was something terrifying about Patti Page. Patti Page

So after reading this little bit of French from your post my mood suddenly changed and I decided to watch link. This is the third movie version of this awesome story that I have watched now. Sadly, my knowledge of classic film is severely lacking. You and Sulla have more movie knowledge than I can ever dream of. Enjoy your viewing! I have a friend who has read all the classics, and someday when I have time, she is going to mentor my classic literature education.

Wow..I just realised the coincidences...You wrote French I thought of watching a movie based on French setting....and what date it was? 14th July! Bastille Day.
Sulla is actually a very knowledgeable person and knows a lot about movies from 70s-2018s. I have seen him recognise movies from screenshots and he usually knows about everything from that era. I am totally zero for that time period. For some reasons I am not able to watch a lot of movies that came after 80s. But I do love to watch very old movies.

Happy Bastille Day! Order some takeout from a French restaurant, buy a bottle of French wine and make it a theme day. I may too; a trip to the grocery store is on my to-do list. Joie de Vivre!

I do actually actually something to gain from France tonight. On the sports board I had predicted before the world cup began that France will win the world cup and if they do win the world cup tonight then I would win the prediction contest. So I am a great well-wisher of France for tonight!
I have unfortunately not had French food (but will like to try) till now. But I love French movies most after Japanese and American movies. And I also have read a bit of English translated French novels.

Well, that would be quite feather in their cap if France wins the World Cup on Bastille Day! I am making ratatouille with fresh vegetables, croissants, French style cheesecake and champagne! I was sad that I couldn't find prepared crème brulee, but out in the rural area I live in... well, it's more ice cream and cookies. I was lucky to find the cheesecake. Go, France!

Actually, they will win on 15th (I used tonight because it is 15th already in Australia).

It seems to me that Nick Adams would have been superb if he, instead of Don Knotts, had originally played Barney Fife. In the real world Don Knotts played Barney Fife for five seasons and then left the Andy Griffith Show although he made five guest appearances for the remaining three seasons. The producers decided to replace the Barney Fife character with a similarly inept comical persona as the new deputy sheriff of Mayberry. They chose Jack Burns, best known as the straight man for the Burns&Schreiber duo, to play Deputy Sheriff Warren Ferguson. Alas, the producers erred in choosing a totally inept comedian (Jack Burns) to play the part of a comically inept character (Warren Ferguson). No, his stupid grimace wasn't funny. Wikipedia tells us this: The replacement for Barney Fife should have gone to a character played by Nick Adams. He was a funny guy as well as a great actor. He proved that in Pillow talk along with Doris Day and Rock Hudson.
