Watched opening to RAW for the first time since RAW 25...
Never seen this guy cut a promo before. Paul Heyman came out to address him on behalf of Brock Lesner.
Reigns reminds me of a mid card WCW guy in 2000 or 2001.
He's trash. If this is the best they can do, no wonder they are trying to get Hulk Hogan back. I'd rather watch a geriatric 65 year butnt Cheeto run around saying Brother and waiving his hands to his ear than listen to that POS Reigns ever again.

WWE style promos just suck anyway. For sure, but Roman is particularly awful.

I can honestly count on 1 hand how many people on the main roster that can cut a good promo consistently.
1. Kevin Owens 2. Samoa Joe 3. Alexa Bliss 4. Sami Zayn (his heel persona anyways) 5. Miz
What they all have in common is that they're all heels. All the baby face promo's in WWE are basically the same crap. You could write the same promo and give it to any face on the roster and it'll all sound the same.

I think AJ does about as well as anyone can with that tired old script they send him out with, which like you said is usually stale as hell. Gargano down in NXT is another guy who can really cut that money babyface promo, but that's specifically because he's not hamstrung like you described. To me the epitome of phoning in the same tired scripted shit would be like Randy Orton. I respect the dude, but he's seemed mentally checked out since... I don't even know. 2011?

Yeah NXT is a whole different level than the main roster. Guys like Aleister Black, Gargano, Tomasso Ciampa, Velveteen Dream can all do good promo's. AJ Styles is fine but to me he's just the same as Seth Rollins. Either guy could cut the same exact promo and you wouldn't tell the difference as to who was who. They CAN cut good promo's but I was simply counting who can consistently do it week in and week out. Randy Orton to me is like your bench mark of a WWE superstar. You know exactly what you're going to get. You're going to get an ok/mediocre promo and an ok/mediocre match out of him. Don't expect to see him do anything great to excellent because all he's gonna give is just the bare minimum. If you've seen 1 Randy Orton match or promo you've seen them all.

I'm a little less interested in the weekly NXT show than I was circa 2014-16, but the events are a cut above for sure, and that includes keeping the builds fresh with great programs. Good point about Seth. Orton has been gone for long stretches due to injury at various points and I haven't noticed until he's back!

NXT hasn't been a much watch weekly show for me anymore but the TakeOver PPV style shows are always a must watch tune in for me and anything I missed storyline wise you get caught up on in the video packages. If there is a match I for sure want to watch on a weekly NXT episode (Ciampa vs Black for the NXT Title) I'll for sure tune in. I plan on watching this weeks episode at some point because a guy named Keith Lee debuted and apparently he's a big deal to the indy community so I'm curious to see for myself.
