The Scream by Edvard Munch (1893) Les Lupins by Maurice Sand (1858) 'In Normandy, tradition tells of certain fantastic beings known as lupins or lubins. They pass the night chattering together and twattling in an unknown tongue. They take their stand by the walls of country cemeteries, and howl dismally at the moon.' - Montague Summers

I am quite fond of American artist Edward Hopper. I was wandering through an art museum in Indianapolus when I came upon this painting and felt like all the air had been sucked out of the room. Very effective. Hotel Lobby, 1943 This one is appropriate for a movie message board. What film do you think is playing? New York Movie, 1939 And, of course, Hopper’s most famous Nighthawks, 1942

I'm sure it was, not sure if there has been any formal acknowledgment.

I can imagine a fat woman staring forlornly at you through the glass of your kitchen window.
