Second attempt of seeing and I still couldn't sit through it all. Absolute rubbish. Very poor performance from the mother and the kid is obviously supposed to be annoying but is still a great argument for contraception. Scenes of this movie have absolutely no bearing on the plot and seem included only to pad the runtime to 90 minutes, as this is basically an inflated version of the director's earlier short film. For instance, the first scene at the mother's work where the other nurse comes in and makes a sexist remark.
Not scary, not particularly meaningful as metaphor.
4/10

8/10 for me. I thought it was quite good. Some what of a think piece. I hated the part with the dog though.

I liked it a lot. I thought it was really well shot, I think the mom gives a really effective performance, and the kid is perfectly cast because he is creepy and weird and irritating enough to believe a mother could turn against her own child. And that central idea is really unsettling. The notion of a mother resenting and maybe even hating her own child is really unnerving.
I found it to be really well made and effective. But I haven't seen it again since the first time.

A great, eerie and creepy film in my book (no pun intended).
Also, watch the video where it's compared to Wes Craven's New Nightmare. The similarities are more apparent than you'd expect. The kid in this movie is basically Miko Hughes from NN.

I liked it, though I would say it was somewhat over-hyped at the time of its release. Some creepy visuals and an unsettling story and atmosphere. Essie Davis (the mother) gives a strikingly potent performance. Not an all-time favourite for me, but still a quality movie. I'd rate it 8/10.

One of the best horror movies of the decade so far as far as I’m concerned. Super creepy with excellent acting. 8-9/10

Terrible isn't it. Bad acting by mum isn't helped by incessant camera shots of her angst. The kid is a drag, and the whole overrated project reeks of witless amateurism.
