Yes, you are. It's a great show. Addictive as hell.

For the record I'm not the biggest fantasy fan (the LOTR films bore me to tears) It does a better study of politics than LOTR (which didn't do a study of politics at all). You are definitely missing something. At least try to get through 1 season before deciding to continue or not.

"In 2015, it set a record for winning the most number of Primetime Emmy Awards for a series in a single year, with 12 wins out of 24 nominations. In 2016, it became the most awarded series in Emmy Awards history, with a total of 38 wins. To date, Game of Thrones has won 244 awards out of 686 nominations."

Emmy awards do no engage me in the slightest. Midgets and overt nudity do, thus my mild interest in watching the show.

Yes.
The show is phenomenal the first 4 or 5 seasons, after that the decline in story quality is replaced by what can only be described as the most spectacular visuals & direction on TV.

in short... it's forgettable. it's very overrated.
I stopped watching it at I think the start of Season 5. it has some decent characters here and there but overall it's nothing special like it's made out to be.
p.s. I also don't care for LOTR and the like.
for the record... The Sopranos/Breaking Bad are THE TV shows to beat in my book as they are the gold standard of 10/10 level TV shows. everything else I have seen can't touch those two. my #3 spot is Dexter (2006-2013) which is a 7.5-8/10 and everything else I have seen is a 7/10 tops when it comes to TV shows. also, The Sopranos/Breaking Bad are much easier to follow as you don't have to remember a billion characters etc etc like Game of Thrones. plus, with plenty of characters on Game of Thrones... most of them are forgettable as only a handful or so are of any real worth.

Am I missing out on anything? Well, if you are British, and know the history of the Wars of the Roses, that's basically the blueprint Martin chose to base his characters, and a lot of his story, on. So if you like history, you'll probably like GoT. I do.

Me neither.
The Sopranos is probably the last tv series I followed to any fairly regular degree, and that show ended over a decade ago.

For the record I'm not the biggest fantasy fan (the LOTR films bore me to tears) If you aren't a fantasy fan, the the first few seasons are probably best although most seasons are primarily about the human interactions. The last season has the most fantasy elements and I can only assume it's even moreso in the final season. There is an episode, Hardhome, that jumpstarts the fantasy into high gear. It's got zombies but I think they are handling them they way they should be handled as opposed to something like The Walking Dead. There is also the occasional dragon attack but they are basically used as a what if bombers were around during the middle ages. The show is unique in that it has always focused on character dialogues and relationships (Unlike the books which were great in a different way imo). The biggest problem is the story. They simply cannot crafty a good story out of the limited amount of budget and episodes they are given and so everything is rushed story wise and it shows. The story has caused it to fall out of my all time top ten, but it's still a great experience for a TV show.

I just finished Breaking Bad. I have to take breaks between bad guy shows and will probably start Sopranos next. I loved it although I like Better Call Saul better. With game of Thrones, you really only have to remember the memorable ones. The cast of important characters was never that large to begin with and they are gradually whittled away.

Am I missing out on anything? Not really. I watched one season last year. While it was entertaining, it's not something you have to watch.

CoolJGS☺While I like Better Call Saul, I don't even think it's close to Breaking Bad overall. Breaking Bad = 10/10. Better Call Saul I can't really go more than about a 7/10 so far. NOTE: I still got to catch up on the current season which is three episodes into the 4th season. but I might just wait til the current season has finished airing and then binge watch the entire season. but I don't blame you for taking breaks as it helps savor the moment a bit longer etc. p.s. I re-watched both The Sopranos and Breaking Bad earlier this year and they still remain 10/10 status for me.

Tits and cock. Also dragons, sometimes. Oh give me a fucking break the amount of nudity in Game of Thrones is no wear near as much as people claim. You see a breast for 5 seconds in an episode and people acts like its porn.

Love it or hate it, it's odd to think of Game of Thrones as a forgettable show.

The producers haven't missed a step, but I like the story better. I think BB's overall story was great. Nothing on BCS comes close to Ozymandias (Well, except Chicanery. Both are on my all time favorite episode list). However, I think it was more episodic which interfered with what would normally feel like a really long movie. I also just care about the characters in BCS more. On Breaking Bad, I like how all the characters are corrupted by Walter's actions (Including Hank btw). I honestly think it's going to be one unbroken chain of events in the end although BCS could easily exist concurrently with the first seasons of BB.
