I felt so bad for Jake the Snake after Austin beat him in King of the Ring. Then again, it lead to the famous Austin 3:16 speech. But still. I remember feeling bad for him. I remember feeling bad for Jake during his feud with Lawler where Lawler kept bringing up his alcohol abuse and if I remember right would pour what assume was fake alcohol on him. I was a kid at the time but I remember thinking it was fucked up but not knowing why. Looking back at it now it's just really sickening. usually when you hear about angles like that that look really bad for the person, you come to find out it was that person's idea. I'm not sure if it was Jake's but I wouldn't be surprised.

So that part at least is indeed very sickening.

Well we all know from history that Vince really gets off on embarrassing and trashing veterans.

I don't know why Undertaker still wrestles these days at all. He's old, broken down, way past his prime, etc. He can only wrestle for barely a few minutes before exhausting himself. Didn't his match at WrestleMania last for just 3 minutes or something like that?

Agreed. Same thing with Hawk. It's all in poor taste, especially since it runs the risk of causing a relapse.

I miss the old days just as much as anyone, but there was a time and a place for those glory days.
WWF: Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan etc... WCW: Sting, Ric Flair, Hall, Nash, DDP, Hollywood Hogan etc...
But when I see clips from TNA of Hogan and Sting. Then I see clips of Hulk Hogan, Hall, Nash doing N.W.O. promos... It kind of makes me feel sorry for them. It's okay to stay fit, and go to WWE events to be a commentator, or special guest, etc... but man, it ain't the glory days anymore.
At least the Rock acts and makes movies. Stone Cold does a Podcast and hosts reality TV shows. They know their days are done, and moved on. Austin actually retired a bit early in my opinion, but still.
I watched wrestling faithfully from 1989 - 2003 or so. Then I stopped watching it completely. I have spent a few months going down memory lane, reliving old matches, etc... Even tried watching Raw for the first time in years.
The glory days are over man. If you like this new generation of wrestling, I'm happy for you. I just can't get into it. And watching old aging heroes from my childhood try to wrestle is sad. I want to say goodbye once and for all to this once great past time. I had fun reliving my childhood for a bit, but today I just went down a rabbit hole of wrestling clips and just felt sad when I landed on a 2013 TNA event when Bully Ray stood up to Hogan and Sting. It looked so bad. At least Sting wears make up, it helps a bit. I don't know, then I saw Hall and Nash in 2014 at Hogan's birthday party.
They had a good run. Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Macho Man, Rowdy Piper, Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, HHH, Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Stone Cold, Rock, etc... but this ain't my generation anymore. I can't relate to Roman Reigns or Brock Lesner (I did enjoy Goldberg beating the crap out of him in 2016 looking at clips on YouTube).
I just hope Hogan does guest appearances and things like that. It's time brother. It's time.
I'm not sure I completely understand the point of your post. You talk about how pathetic it is to see old guys try to wrestle and are referencing stuff from… Five years ago? That's your example? Unless I'm missing something, not a lot of old guys to try to wrestle anymore. However, I do agree with you but I just can't get into today's product. I keep trying to give it a chance, because I miss wrestling, but it just doesn't grab me anymore. For starters, there just aren't any marquee names anymore. None of the guys that are maineventers do anything for me. They're not exciting enough to hold my interest during a weekly show, let alone a pay per view. I mean that from a couple of points of view. First of all, they're just not that charismatic or entertaining. Additionally, who the hell am I supposed to cheer for anymore? I'm watching Monday Night Raw and it's announced that Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Braun Stroman are going to be fighting for the title in the next pay-per-view. Am I supposed to like any of these guys? None of them are really good guys, which is a major problem in wrestling anymore, and two of them are pretty much the same character. There's nobody to cheer for or relate to anymore, I agree. I mean, the crowd boos all three of these guys.

Didn't his match at WrestleMania last for just 3 minutes or something like that? I sent this five years ago – or however long it's been going on – but I don't know why anyone would be interested in a character who shows up to maybe three times a year. There is literally no back story to the rivalry of the guys he's paired up with. You can't build up anything when one of the guys is never on TV.

Jake could still go though. He just had a huge gut. I was a huge mark for Jake's mid-90s WWF run. Loved it. Warrior's too. I wish those guys would've stuck around for longer.
