Honey ham, honey turkey, etc. Who came up with the bright idea that meat is better by dumping ultra-sweet honey all over it?

Honey, or maple syrup on a hearty meat is a puzzlement, to me. With some ham/pork, I do like the offsetting flavor of a bit of fruit, which has touches of sweetness AND tartness. But, sweet "gooey" stuff gets a ******* Don't understand: Peanut sauce, in/on a savory dish. (Note: I love peanuts, and natural-style peanut butter.)

I used to work for a pizza shop, that also made and served it's own Lasagna... The recipe for the sauce called for adding a teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper to 4 cans worth of an Italian sauce...
Seriously, who the fuck would think, let's add this hot pepper spice to an Italian dish?
Thankfully, it was LIKE: "One flake" to one serving, and so it wasn't hot... But still, why add one flake at all?
And what the hell is up with Bay Leaves? Who in their right mind would add whole leaves to a sauce, which you have to remove later.
I've got a whole tree of leaves, but I don't put them in my sauces!
& Tea Leaves? I love tea, but again, what insane idiot thought it was a good idea to brew leaves?

I don't think I've ever had fish tacos. I do love pizza with anchovies though. And bacon cheeseburgers.

Hmm... don't know about that one. Bay leaves impart one of the best fragrant aromas to dishes such as soups or stews. I wouldn't dream of making a beef pot roast, for example, without adding a couple of bay leaves. Sure, you have to remove them when the dish is finished cooking, but that's hardly a nuisance. No worse than, say, having to skim off some extra fat or something.

melted cheese on tuna mayonnaise. why? just, why?
pigs in blankets with mustard -- regular hot dogs and mustard is fine but pibs… the mustard is too spicy for some reason. ketchup for the little guys.
chicken and waffles. what?
just google stargazy pie
'bacon cheeseburgers'? the hells wrong with you??
not a food combination but how some people eat sandwiches and the like vertically... watch the first 5 minutes of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA... when andy gets her bagel and goes down the subway stairs...

Sour cream on baked potatoes is another one Wow Jayman I like all 3 of those combinations. As for your first one I usually cut off a piece of pork chop and dip it in the applesauce. But a few times I have actually baked them right in the applesauce. And this is good like this: And sour cream on baked potatoes make a good baked potato great! I could never understand how people could eat a Peanut Butter and Mayonnaise sandwich.

The applesauce thing is just something I've always felt strongly against. Sour cream is also not my thing. The mustard pretzel thing I can't say I hate, but I just never got why that combination is so universally loved.

Sour cream on baked potatoes is another one Have to say, I don't care for any of those either. I don't like sweet with a savory. Soft pretzels...cheese only. Potatoes....cheese. Never had cheese on a pork chop. But then again have not had one since I lived at home(30yrs ago).

She made homemade sauce all the time. Her recipe came from her grandmother, who was Spanish/Sicilian. The recipe not only had cayenne pepper, but habaneros. Not a lot. And yes, bay leaves, she added to that & her sausage. It's not any different than imparting a flavor into a cream.
