Do you know of any movies (or potentially books) where there is some smart form of AI that can "intercept and understand human emotion, thoughts, desires etc" and in even materialize it and bring it into the humans environment and it does so including materializing human nightmares or whatever bad thoughts and inner demons they may have? And I am not thinking Inception. Something older and more to the point.
I cant remember which movie or book this was in, in this form. I wanna say The NeverEnding Story, the Cell, Sunshine or Gattaca but neither sounds right.
both books and movies count. the "understanding human emotion and subcoscinouness and being able to to act on it or even materialize it or at least visually showcase it" being the important element, but equally with "humans have also bad things on their mind, not just dreams of unicorns and world peace, so its not a good idea to let the AI materialize it".
thank you.

apologies to all, while i was thinking :AI: it should have been :a planet: and the book and the movie i was thinking of is Solaris.
mea culpa for the wrong description. but in my head the memory was of AI not a planet.
however thank you all for contributing. and Forbidden Planet sounds cool, I will for sure check that out.

No problem but even if Forbidden Planet isn't what you had in mind it is still exactly you described.
