In this video a preacher offers an explanation of the history of Christianity. He basically telegraphs his chosen sect early on if you are paying attention. His viewpoint is at odds with the majority of Christians, and perhaps even at odds with the majority of adherents of the denomination to which he belongs about some points he is making.
His concept is that all sects but one are related to each other and that all are wrong to the point of being inspired by the devil.
He says something I had never heard before about Joseph Smith. He claims that Smith baptized himself, sort of like Napoleon crowning himself emperor. I thought I had heard practically everything in terms of claims about this Mormon leader, pro and con, but I guess I was wrong.
I guess I am wondering if anyone here shares his idea of what is true and false in Christianity. I agree with him about some things, but strongly disagree about others. I am actually perhaps most distressed by the giggles of approval from his audience when he mocks the people not in his chosen sect.

The guy's an idiot Baptist who tries to separate himself from Reformed Baptists (acknowledged Calvinists) and pretend that Baptists are somehow unique and not Protestant. Baptist actually split from the Church of England along with the Puritans. Why he didn't make that 'branch' on his chart is because he's in denial about the origins of his own movement. Yes, he does seem to want to separate himself and his congregstion from the reality of the history of the Baptists.

Yes, he does seem to want to separate himself and his congregstion from the reality of the history of the Baptists. Sectarianism at its worst. I did appreciate that he acknowledged some truths about the Greek Orthodox and why they are closer to original Christianity than the Roman Catholics. But he's certainly splitting hairs about which churches are true Christians and which are not. But I lol at the idea that Baptists are some unique virgin group with no ties to any other movement. Damn, he even vilified Reformed Baptists. Jesus wore pants!

pastor peter has a potty mouth
so it might not have been the highlight of this week's greatest moments in sports history but little timmy thought it necessary to stand in front of the rectory proclaiming: pastor peter has a potty mouth because you all apparently lack the ability to see the horse manure he's passing off as this glorified manifest destiny even the indigenous thought was a tad bit overkill but they didn't have the christ ordained fire sticks and the associated mad skills to promote their version of peace on earth good will towards men.
sjw 09/04/18 inspired at this very moment in time by the never ending attempts by right wing christians to control the jesus juice.

I would argue that the majority of members within those denominations are more true Christian than that idiot Steven Anderson.

I would argue that the majority of members within those denominations are more true Christian than that idiot Steven Anderson. Of course you would. And he would argue that you are not a true Christian and therefore an idiot, which makes both of you basically the same. The thing that both of you have in common is that you are both idiots. And you likely believe in 90% of the same things, but the 10% where your interpretations differ makes both of you “not true Christians”. That’s generally how that works with Christianity.

That’s generally how that works with Christianity. That's generally how that works in every religion, political group, tribe... humans just can't live and let live. Conflict is the engine that drives evolution, and our brains haven't evolved enough to find a successful way to address that. I used to hope that people could live peacefully and sustainably together on this planet, but realized eventually that, with our current brain (lack of) capacity, if it ever happened, I wouldn't be alive to see it. Wars and disease have historically kept our population in check, but with advances in medical science, people are living longer, reproducing to the point of the earth not being able to sustain us much longer. Christians believe that 'the end times' are here, but I think that it is a self-fulfilling prophecy and has zero to do with a supernatural supreme being.
