I have watched this damn trailer like 15x now and I still think the odds of the new Halloween movie being disappointing are HIGH.....VERY HIGH. According to what I'm seeing on the web, apparently TONS of people are easily amused, but not me. I have always been a huge fan of the original and it was truly a special film, but the trailer for this one just has NO heart. Trust me, I want to love this movie as much as the 'next guy' and I will eventually see it, but it just looks like a thrown together montage of Halloween easter eggs and call-backs, NONE of which can OR should save a film. And honestly, it doesn't look much different than what Rob Zombie created with his adaptations. So here's my million-dollar question. Why the hell is it so difficult for Hollywood to get things right? Ripping off previous movies is NOT impressive. What would be impressive is a little bit of thought and care in making a film to be proud of and that captured the look and feel of the original while NOT being a unoriginal stitched together copy. I may be a little harsh on it before it releases but I'm just not convinced that ANY more juice can be squeezed from the fruit that is the Halloween franchise. And another thing, what are the plans for the future after this? Do we really need to keep beating a dead horse? It seems that Hollywood is trying to kill off any goodness that is left in these franchises. I think it's time for someone to air-drop some crates of originality over Hollywood so they will stop this madness.
Go see Hell Fest instead and that feels like a breath of fresh air to bring old school style slasher back to theaters and should be a hit and make a new franchise that feels fresh than a dead one like Halloween.

*sigh* Really on the fence about this. It's kind of odd to throw away all the other movies. But it'd be nice if Curtis made a good movie these days.

So they are really going to pretend all the sequels never happened?

This trailer look better than the first, but i'm still skeptical for it being a good movie.

Folks, if your like me and sick of this shit of what's been done to the franchise for the past 17 years and tired of these older horror icons/franchises like Elm Street, Child's Play, Friday The 13th, Hellraiser, Scream, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, Halloween etc. being brought back from the dead, proping them up and making them act like if they were as cool/relevant as they were in the 80s/90s/early 2000s and being turned into jokes then don't go see the movie in theaters and wait until you can rent if your that curious, that's how your gonna send your message to studios. Make new horror franchises and icons and let the older ones rest in peace.
Check out at 1:24:34 which is a controversial rant by 2 youtube friends of mine Ocpcommunications and Ramboraph4life urging audiences and studios to just let iconic horror franchises and beloved horror icons to just die and rest in peace and move on to make fresh brand new ones.
With comparisons to the Universal monsters of the 30s/40s/50s, universal bottoming out of their icons, slasher craze and crash of the 80s and the recent trend of sequelizing and remaking Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th (despite they with me like the 2009 remake and no sequel has happened in 10 years), Elm Street, Child's Play, Scream, Saw, Hellraiser, etc. and how they feel it's time to let these franchises and beloved horror icons to rest a peaceful death than to constantly bring them back in hope of new life/profit/old glory otherwise they are gonna be zombies and instead bring them back in merchandise, video games, comics, books, t-shirts, appreal, costumes and all that even streams of the old movies on amazon, hulu, crackle and netflix.
Make new horror icons that are fresh and new! it's how Michael Myers, Chucky, Freddy Krueger, Jigsaw, Ghostface, Jason Voorhees and Pinhead came to be as they were not copies of the universal monsters but unique in their own ways. Horror needs unique fresh icons again like take for example Annabelle she is the new Chucky, Not the same tired old ones force fed to new generations like they are still as cool as they were in the 80s 90s and early 2000s. They had their time in the sun and earned retirement from the genre, let them kick off their shoes to relax, bringing them back constantly is only gonna hurt their legacy and turn them into jokes. I know it is sad but it is true, it's time to move on.
No need for anymore Halloween sequels, terrible Hellraiser sequels, Don Mancini made crappy Child's Play sequels (i felt the series ended at 3), anymore poor Leatherface sequels/prequels (the last TCM worth a damn was 1990's 3 while 2003's remake was decent), the 15th Leprechaun movie, more Children of the Corn sequels etc. it's a dead horse already and they are beating it, sometimes dead is better and this video tells the truth and i'm standing by them.
Fuck this! Halloween is a DEAD franchise. Bury it. There's no need for this and NOBODY asked for this. Just these moronic, brain-washed fans who like any of the garbage Hollywood shills out. I don't give a fuck if people say I hate everything. Hate is GREAT, we need more hate! At least it's genuine and can't be faked. Hate for post 1983 Star Wars, , hate for SJWs, hate for nostalgia, hate for hack writers and directors, hate for every bad remake and reboot, and hate for these studio executives who greenlight these shitty movies and disrespect the actual moviegoers IE US and me with ocpcommunications/ramboraph4life until it bites the executives in the ass! Like Palpatine would say "Let the hate flow through you."
If you want to see the halloween film event of the year, see Hell Fest instead and that should be a fun throwback film. Now that has potential to be a franchise and create a fresh new horror icon.
