www.slashfilm.com/candyman-remake/I think Peele would be the best person to direct a Candyman remake. If Get Out is anything to go by, it has an extremely good chance at being good.

Produce? Fine. But don't direct. The mainstream doesn't want slashers. Create and direct original content. He needs to keep a finger on the pulse of the mainstream if he wants continued success. I never saw Candyman as a slasher. I never saw the sequels and don’t care to either. Candyman felt more like a smart person’s horror movie than dumb teenager horror movie. Makes sense also since Clive Barker wrote the Short story Candyman was based on. Also am I the only one who’d love to see Idris Elba as Candyman?

Just what we need. More virtue signalling remakes (although the original was political as well, but that "Helen, Helen, Helen.." thing was scary...though not as scary as the condition of that washroom she goes into to snoop around).

That’s why I think Peele is the best guy to do this. As long as he’s not in your face with the politics it might be good.

I'm afraid he might be too "in demand" as an actor for a roll like this though. True. I feel like Elba is the closest you can get to Tony Todd today.

William Crain's Blacula and Dr Black and Mr White appear to be safe from remakes.

That is an ideal arrangement, actually.

Can we whitewash the villain? If so cast John Turturro.

We don't need a remake. If anything, I'd like a prequel of the Candyman mythology. I'd even be okay with Peele playing Candy and Tony Todd playing his Grandfather. Cast Anna Sophia Robb as the forbidden fruit and you've got something.
I do love the idea of Elba as Candyman though.

I just think he’s too funny honestly. I thought of Idris when I remembered him as Roland in the Dark Tower movie. Peele really seems to know the horror genre well. He could possibly be the next Kubrick if he keeps it up.
