I know this is way off topic, but I can justify it if I have too. Stephen King has had a long running Comic Book based on the Dark Tower published by Marvel. There are 16 vol of collected works published from 2007 this year. (Marvel sold the rights to Simon and Schuster's comic book company Gallary 13)
Now that it's justified has anybody watched it. I just got done with the last episode tonight. (It's already been picked up for a 2nd season) Usually I hate when they make series or movies set in a fictional world but isn't adapted from anything. With comic book movies they usually take from this story and little of that. So it's tied to something in the comics.
Castle Rock isn't like that. It's set in Castle Rock but isn't based off of any of Stephen Kings books/short stories. It's not just set in Castle Rock but also has characters that are from some of his stories. (Alan Pangborn for instance is the sheriff in The Dark Half and Needful Things he is in the series). The plot is wholely new.
It took about to episode 5 to really get going. It kind of drags here and there. Probably would've been a better Idea to make it 8 episodes instead of 10. Trim some of the fat away. I own all of Kings work all hardcover and all but a handful first editions. (Had to settle for 2nd edition 1st printing of the Dark Tower 1 also have a signed copy of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon) The series has 100's of little easter eggs in it. I could've done with less easter eggs to trim it down some. It's like they were trying to hard in the first 5 episodes to get people hooked with all the allusions to the books. I got to say though 8-10 episodes was excellent. And I can't wait till season 2.

I have read a lot of Stephen King books and seen most of the movies so I assumed I was going to really enjoy the show. Having said that, I found the first episode a bit boring so I haven't returned yet for the 2nd.

IMHO The first 3 episodes are really slow and dragging, 4-7 gets good, 8-10 are excellent.

It didn't look as though that is what we were going to get, based purely on episode 1. I don't know how it ended up? I'll probably get round to watching some more eventually. The trouble is, there is so much good shit to watch these days. It is hard to prioritize.
