This brings me to my big DC news for today. This is truly awesome news. I am so excited if it is true and I have been waiting so long to see Barbara Gordon/ Batgirl on screen and whether it is in a movie or TV Show or both I will be thrilled!! Batgirl TV Show Coming To DC Universe Streaming Servicewegotthiscovered.com/tv/batgirl-tv-series-coming-dc-universe-streaming-service/Rumor: Batgirl Show in Development For DC Universescreenrant.com/batgirl-tv-show-dc-universe/They should hire Gail Simone to write the Batgirl show. Gail Simone is one of the greatest comic book writers of all time and she offered to write the script for the movie but it appears they went with another writer for that and with Crystal Reed getting one of the main roles in ‘Swamp Thing’ they could use another former Gotham actress, Maggie Geha to play Barbara Gordon.
If this goes through it means in 2020 DC will have 4 female superhero shows with Batgirl, Supergirl, Stargirl and Batwoman. This will be historic and with movies of Supergirl, Batgirl, Birds of Prey, Razor, Fathom, Red Sonja, Painkiller Jane, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Faith, Sheena, Danger Girl and Wonder Woman 2 on the way and Warner Bros saying they plan to focus more on female superheroes if Wonder Woman 2 is successful we are a finally seeing a long awaited shift in the right direction of equality with female representation in comic book movies. While the DCEU has mostly been a failure so far with the exception of Wonder Woman and popularity of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn one thing I have to praise DC for is using female superheroes and whether the movie or TV show goes through first this will mark the first time we have had Batgirl/Barbara Gordon in live action since Yvonne Craig played the characters 50 years ago.
Hopefully we get Alysia, Ricky, Jim Gordon Jr, Knightfall, Bonebreaker, The Disgraced, Strix, Shauna Belzer, Grotesque, Mirror, Midnight Man, Gretel etc in the show. If it is going to be set in the same universe as the ‘Titans’ show they could have Dick appear in it too and with ‘Gotham’ ending I see no reason why Catwoman can’t appear since she has been in a number of Batgirl comic books.

Huh. So what, if anything, does this mean for the Batgirl movie? Is that still being made?

I knew you would be excited about this show. Debbie is the biggest Batgrl fan there is and has wanted a Batgirl show forever. When will we find out who is playing her and will it be connected to Batwoman?

Huh. So what, if anything, does this mean for the Batgirl movie? Is that still being made? From what I have read the 'Batgirl' movie is still definitely going through at this point and they are looking for an actress to play the role but it doesn't sound like the 'Batgirl' movie and 'Birds of Prey' will be tied together again like they are in the comic books unless they plan on having Barbara Gordon appear as Oracle in a few scenes in 'Birds of Prey' and then have her become Batgirl again in the 'Batgirl' movie. One thing a lot of sites appear to be saying is the 'Batgirl' movie is going to be about Barbara Gordon. I am not sure about the TV show though and with Cassandra Cain confirmed for 'Gotham' it is unlikely they will use her in the 'Batgirl' TV show but they might have Stephanie Brown as Batgirl in the TV show. I think the best thing to do would be to have both the movie and TV show about Barbara Gordon 'cause I would much rather see Stephanie as the Spoiler and they could have Stephanie appear in a 'Batgirl' as the Spoiler.

Batgirl/Barbara Gordon is one of my all time favourite character and I would actually rank Supergirl/ Linda Danvers higher than her but she is in my top 3 with DC superheroes and the Gail Simone series was my second favourite DC comic book series of all time. I don't think 'Batgirl' will be connected to the 'Batwoman' TV show 'cause that is going to be in the 'Arrowverse' but I think it is very likely it will be connected to 'Titans' and Dick Grayson will appear or Barbara will appear in 'Titans' before it airs.

As much as I am opposed to the proliferation of so much Batman related properties I have to say Batgirl show...fuck yeah.
I am not so up to date on the whole Batgirl thing, truth be told I thought there was just 1 Batgirl, so do the other Batgirls still operate in Gotham or do they operate elsewhere? Because kind of like how on Supergirl it's odd how Superman doesn't turn up in their hour of need really and without explanation either, setting a Batgirl show in Gotham you would need to explain why Batman isn't around imo.
I would have kind of loved it if they had Batgirl be a tie into the movies so in the DCEU Batgirl we see her redonning the mask after she regains the use of her legs and such but in the show it's her younger prior to the incident and gives you the characters history within the universe, or vice versa which maybe a better choice.

Well the DCEU seems uncertain of their own timeline and what has and hasn't happened and to who.

Yeah. I know you are not a fan of having too many Batman related properties on screen Dazz but the thing about Batgirl/Barbara Gordon is we haven’t seen her on screen since Adam West’s ‘Batman’ TV show where Yvonne Craig played her and Yvonne Craig is no longer with us now and many fans have been waiting decades to see Barbara Gordon as Batgirl again including my Aunt who was a fan of the Adam West ‘Batman’ show and loved Batgirl and Robin. Despite us having multiple movie adaptions of Batman in movies we have seen a very small amount of Bat Family characters in live action movies and TV shows and I think it is great we are finally getting Batgirl, Nightwing, Batwoman, Orphan and Jason Todd and hopefully we will also get to see the likes of The Spoiler, Red Robin, Bluebird, Azrael (the hero), Hawkfire and the Signal in these upcoming movies and TV shows too and Jason as Red Hood in the future.
There have actually been 5 Batgirls in the comic books and there was a whole team of Batgirls in the future in Gail Simone’s Batgirl series and the first one was Bat-Girl (Betty Kane) who was the original Batwoman (Kathy Kane’s) sidekick and niece from long ago and Betty went on to become Flamebird and Hawkfire and changed her name to Bette Kane. Barbara Gordon was the second Batgirl and the most popular and she was created for the Adam West show ‘cause the network wanted the writers to add a female superhero for female viewers and she became so popular DC decided to add her to the comic books and Barbara remained Batgirl up until the controversial events of ‘The Killing Joke’ which saw her paralysed and take up the name of Oracle. Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown who are now Orphan and the Spoiler took on the mantle of Batgirl while Barbara was Oracle and Helena Bertinelli (The Huntress) also used the name for a short time.
Then when Gail Simone took over the ‘Birds of Prey’ series she wanted to make Barbara Batgirl again but DC wouldn’t let her do it at the time until they rebooted with the New 52 series in 2011 and that series not only saw Barbara cured and come back as a stronger, faster, more experienced and highly skilled fighter who was second only to Batman in fighting skills and Gail’s Batgirl series went on to be a New York Times No.1 Best Selling Series and three of the five graphic novels also become New York Times No. 1 Best Sellers. Gail Simone introduced a lot of new things in Batgirl such as her own villains and side characters like Alysia, Ricky, Knightfall, Bonebreaker, The Midnight Man, Gretal, Shauna Belzer and Strix who started out as a villain and then changed sides and joined the Birds of Prey.
As for where Batgirl operates it depends. Sometimes she operates in Gotham and other times she is in different towns and countries and in 'Rebirth' she has been in Japan and she is known to travel from time to time much like the Birds of Prey who travel all around in the comic books which is why I am slightly disappointed they have revealed the 'Birds of Prey' movie is taking place in 'Gotham' 'cause there are a lot of other places from the comic books they could have used but apparently Batman won't be in Gotham in the 'Birds of Prey' movie leading many to believe he has retired or is on a mission with the Justice League. The thing about Gotham with Batman is it is described as a huge city in the comic books which is why the Bat Family are needed 'cause Batman can't look after the whole city on his own (as they actually say in Detective Comics with it being "realistically impossible to be everywhere at once" ) and with Batman being in the Justice League he is not always in Gotham. Then you have to remember there is something like 500 Batman villains all in Gotham.

Does Alicia Silverstone's movie Batgirl get no love? No? .... Yeah, alright.... That was Barbara Wilson not Barbara Gordon. Apart from her having blonde hair instead of red hair the character had very little in common with Barbara Gordon and a lot of fans didn't like her. I think Alicia Silverstone was a better choice to play Supergirl than Batgirl and I remember reading she was one of the favourites to play that role when the 'Supergirl' movie was in development in the early 00s but it sadly didn't go through.

I don't think anyone minded batgirl being blonde when Lexi Belle played her.

They are not going to make her look like Raven, Beast and Starfire if it is connected to the Titans tv show?

I guess it's too early to say if it's connected to Titans or be a stand alone show. Or which Batgirl it will be.

I guess it's too early to say if it's connected to Titans or be a stand alone show. Or which Batgirl it will be. As I shared with you earlier today some members might not know but I found out Batgirl was originally meant to be in the 'Titans' show but she was taken out of it when it was announced they were working on the 'Batgirl' movie and I am sadly not sure what this means for the rumoured 'Batgirl' TV show now and if it is going to happen or not but she was removed 'cause they want her to be the star of her own adaption and not just a supporting star or part of an ensemble so the 'Batgirl' TV show could still be happening and connect onto 'Titans' but we probably won't know anytime soon. I am hoping her whereabouts are mentioned at the very least since they are having Jason in the show. I hope Emma Stone is cast for this, she would be perfect Emma Stone is a good choice 'cause she would bring a lot of publicity to the role and is one of the biggest actresses in the world at the moment but I am not sure how she would go with fighting scenes and a physically demanding role like Batgirl which requires her to be able to fight and do a lot of martial arts and jumps and flips. Have you seen any movies with her doing fighting scenes and if so was she good at them?

I don't think she does need to be that good at fight scenes really because of the costume, it's not an Arrowverse costume where it's just a domino mask that doesn't really hide their features, the Batgirl costume can make it a lot easier to slip in a stunt double or fight double, it'll be for Robin/Nightwing where they would need to get someone who can do a lot of their own fight scenes, Black Canary is one you gotta hope can do the stunt stuff well because she doesn't have a mask at all, unless they plan to Arrow her and give her a mask just to give her one?
