I think it look good. Still not sure about Claire Foy (despite being an amazing actress) as Lisbeth though.

The book really sucked but I like the series overall. Hopefully the movie will improve on the source material. I'm in, with doubts.

Rewatching the trailer again, why did they cast a young actor as Mikael Blomqvist?

Why wait so long for a sequel? Or is it a reboot? It seems those movies came out right at the height of the series' popularity.

Why wait so long for a sequel? Or is it a reboot? It seems those movies came out right at the height of the series' popularity. The original trilogy of books - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest - were written by Stieg Larsson. There were movie versions of each released in 2009 starring Noomi Rapace. In 2010 there was the Millennium TV mini-series, which was a compilation of the three Swedish films with extended scenes/more stuff added back in. In 2011 came the US remake. Since then, another author (David Lagercrantz) started writing a new series of books continuing the story on from The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (as the original author, Stieg Larsson, had passed away). So this new movie starring Claire Foy is the first film adaptation of this new series of books. The only 'remake' so far has been the 2011 version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I think it'll be interesting to see Claire Foy in the role. She's an amazing actress, and judging by the trailer it looks like she'll be doing a fine job.

Rewatching the trailer again, why did they cast a young actor as Mikael Blomqvist? Maybe to make their relationship less "creepy" (minimizing the age gap i.e) Why wait so long for a sequel? Yes, thanks for mentioning that. I forgot to. I also forgot to mention that after the 2010 Millennium TV mini-series, which was a compilation of the three Swedish films with extended scenes/more stuff added back in, they also got released as 'Extended Versions' of the films on DVD/Blu-ray (these are the versions of the movies I always watch, as there's quite a bit of new stuff added to each one and the runtimes for each has been extended to 3 hours or so).

I always thought that the TV mini-series came first, and that the movies were an edited-down version of it.
*** EDIT ***
Never mind, I looked it up. You are right. Huh. I don't think I've ever heard of a movie being released on TV with added material, as opposed to the other way around (TV mini-series being cut to a shorter running time for a theatrical release).
