Well, people have loved Star Wars for about 40 years now. I'm guessing 15 more years isn't a crazy estimate made by Iger....

We'll see what happens when they've oversaturated the market, the original cast isn't in the movies anymore, and they're vacillating between new "Episodes" in the mid-teens featuring Rey, Finn, Poe, etc. or throwaway standalone movies about apocryphal ST characters. I think there might be diminishing returns.

I think there might be diminishing returns. Maybe. If I remember right, Rogue One made over $1 billion at the box office worldwide. That's far from diminishing returns. We also don't even know the specifics of Iger's statement: Is that 15 years straight of at least one Star Wars movie a year? Will they skip some years like George Lucas did with the OT and PT? In that case, would they return every 2/3 years with a new Star Wars movie for up to 15 years at least? Will the majority of these movies be standalone movies or episodic Star Wars movies? There's a lot of unanswered questions. I would be fine with one Star Wars movie a year released around Christmas time. I think that will keep Star Wars special. I do hope they will think outside the box more than what they did with Rogue One, but I enjoy having new Star Wars movies.

Let's see how well Solo and Episode 9 do. If 9 makes less than 8, than we probably won't be seeing a whole lot.

No. But if each film makes less than it's previous one they may drop the yearly release. There's a risk of a Star Wars fatigue that could very well harm the franchise.

I would love to see all the other examples where the big studios have been the least bit worried about running any product into the ground before.
