I'm not here to start a fight or trash talk the XMU; I thought the DP trailer was good but, it did look like a lot of the other films in the series.
But, here's my question. Why hasn't the XMU significantly advanced the portrayal of telekinesis and matter manipulation in the X-Men films? Most XMU characters who can move objects with their mind are content to stretch out their hands and look constipated while trying to move simple objects (Magneto is a notable exception. He has perfect poise and control. Fassbender is a great actor who is very good at portraying the master of magnetism's abilities).
Legion, Chronicle, and Akira are all better examples of what an omega-level mutant should be able to accomplish with relative ease. I hoped they'd push the envelope more with this penultimate entry in the franchise instead of sticking with flipping cars or turning things over.
Dark Phoenix's manifestation of her powers in The Last Stand was ambitious and ambiguous all at the same time. It wasn't clear if she was using heat/energy to disintegrate an object or if she was telekinetically liberating electrons from their orbit on a molecular level (thus causing the matter she affected to lose cohesion).
Anyway... I know it's a nerdy nitpick but, I'm just sayin'... Television XMU has got the movie XMU beat on this particular point.
