Seriously. Since the first Star Wars and first Batman films came out in 1977 and 1989, we haven't been able to go ONE WHOLE decade with out a new Star Wars or Batman film being made.
It would be nice for Hollywood to finally let these big name franchises rest once starting in the 2020's and for all and get back to originality again.

That would be great. Unless Lucas or Nolan come back to write and direct, then I'd absolutely on board for more, especially if that means we finally get the true Episodes VII-IX by George Lucas, and have all that crap with Rey and co. officially uncanonized and forgotten.

Pfft. Fat chance. We've had exceptions to the rule (Superman between IV and Returns), but they're few and far between. Greedy studios generally can't wait long to make money.

In the 2020's, can we go AT LEAST 1 DECADE without having a new Star Wars or Batman movie? Seriously. So far I'm looking forward to Matt Reeves' upcoming Batman movie(s). He seems to be taking his time, planning things out, and doing his best to get it right. On the other hand, Lucasfilm seemed to be pumping out Star Wars films as fast as they could with no overarching plan - at least until "Solo", when it finally seemed to catch up with them. Now I have no confidence and no interest in Episode IX or any future Star Wars film.

It’s not likely bound to ever happen.

No that won't happen for just about anything now. They even reboot films that are only a couple of years old sometimes which is a joke. So you will get more Rocky (there already is a new Apollo film out), Rambo (being spoken about/made), Star Wars is dead for a while but give it time, Batman, Superman (also dead for now but...), Bourne, Bond, Nightmare on Elm street, Halloween etc etc etc
In about 10 years or so expect them to start remaking the whole Avengers series again too.

I take it you haven't read the horror that Lucas had planned for his version of eps 7-9.

I predict with Kriswell like assurance that the next fad will be genre-hybrids. So there will be Star Bats (a caped crusader joins the resistance to fight the evil Empire and save the universe from Grand Moff Joker)
and Darth Bond where a suave cybernetic secret agent must fight an evil genius named BloFett

I haven't been interested in Batman movies since The Dark Knight Rises. Despite the fact I thought it was the least pleasing of the 3, I've more than had my fill of Batman for a while. I couldn't even get into Gotham the TV show afterwards.
I'll be there with Star Wars soon, probably after episode XI. I heard rumors of a possible Obi Wan solo backstory and I have no interest in that.

If I'm not mistaken, the first Batman movie came out in 1966.

I don't think so cause the movie studios like to make loads of money (and rightfully so) .
I am actually VERY interested in what Matt Reeves will bring to the table with The Batman . Could be great as I loved his Apes sequels .
As for Social Justice Wars , I have little to no interest in them anymore . But they will most certainly make loads of money at the box office & dvd/blu ray sales . As another poster on here pointed out, if you don't like them just don't watch them.

I would suggest probably save yourself a few quids and don't see them if someone else is putting up the quids to make these movies and one don't like them franchises.
Pretty popular though, the Bats and the Force folk.
Other folk might want some more of the characters they like....and also it creates a bit of work for many.
Bit harsh to deny them that on requests by few bods who are annoyed that their tastes don't match others.

There have been like 30 MCU films and only 7 Batman films.
Just saying.
