Just watched Venom hours ago and i actually like it. I thought it was a fun. 6.5/10
I noticed how rushed the final act was and giving the fact that Tom Hardy said that over 40 minutes was cut made me think that sony cut too much out.
So i hope Venom gets the BvS treatment for its Digital/DVD/Blue-Ray release!
As a side note A Star is Born is a fantastic film! 9/10!

God I hope this doesn't become a model for studios to have an ingenious stream of revenue. Make a movie that you seriously cut it to the bone. Make it known that a large chunk of footage was cut. After it leaves to the theater and goes to home video, start a astroturff movement online getting the fandom riled up. Have the plants start screaming for a Extended Cut. Don't let the astroturfing start up until a lot of the normal DVD's sell. Then when you've got a decent amount of DVD sells, ramp up the astroturfing to get demand at highest peak then release the Extended Cut of the movie.
I know that sounds a little like a tin foil hat conspiracy, but Big Business, especially Hollywood, has been caught doing this or something like this. So it's pretty fucking plausible. And the masses, especially, people in the fandom for that specific movie or general genre will fall for it.

A shorter film means more showings in a day, so i could see why it would be tempting for a studio to do that.

And the masses, especially, people in the fandom for that specific movie or general genre will fall for it. It could very well be. A shorter film means more showings in a day, so i could see why it would be tempting for a studio to do that. Along with shorter movies getting shown more often there is another reason to have shorter theatrical releases. There is a physical limit as to how long a movie can be shown on IMAX and OMNIMAX theaters. I think it's 2.5 hours. That's one of the reasons BvS was soooo chopped up and edited to the bone. Snider turned in a 3 hr 20m film hoping he would only have to cut maybe 30-35 minutes. He turned in a movie that was a little bloated. He did this because he knew the studio would ask him to cut 50-55 minutes, but he could show good faith by compromising and cutting 30min. The only problem here is WB already had the deal with IMAX and they didn't want to give up that revenue stream. So the studio was firm the movie HAD to be 2hr30m or less. Snider was not happy. And the audience got a mess of a movie. That's why plot points were abandoned they just went no where. Well they went to the cutting room floor. That's why there was hardly any establishing shots. If you cut out all the establishing shots over the runtime of the movie that's like 3-6minutes. That's the reason why the action and movie get dragged to a halt for the email attachment. Snider was forced to put something with the other League Members in it, but he had no time to do it organically. So we get email exposition. I can't lay the blame solely on WB with their IMAX deal. From day one Zack Snyder knew the movie had to be 2hrs30m. When they saw the movie was gong to run over working through the read through they should've stream lined it. You could cut out the Africa scene, without the Africa scene you can lose Lois' cia sub plot that went no where, stream line Holly Hunter's sub plot, etc. You do that way before you even get close to filming. So a lot is on Snider's shoulders too.

I just realized that this is pretty much similar to what game developers have done in the past. Cut out content in the base game and then sell it as dlc.
