shadyvsesham I don't know whether to hope or not. At least Harden started playing on MVP level at last. Even when he had 50 points game earlier in this season he was not looking good. Last night he was good. But the problem is that can we only win when Harden plays at an MVP level? CP3 and Gordon have been so underwhelming this season. 13-14.....in the 13th position.....we are at a point we cant lose anymore. Something has to change. Well...something changed...We have now Rocket Rivers in our line-up. Really I was impressed. Solid defense on Westbrook, 31 minutes and clutch 3s. I am pretty sure we wouldn't have won this game without Austin Rivers. If only he can continue to give same contributions in the future games. He is much better addition that MCW or Brandon Knight. If only we can now have a decent small forward.

Where is Melo?

It's good that Morey and Dantoni realised that Melo was causing us all sorts of problems. He was not playing according to Rockets maths. Recently I read an article that all the teams are now trying to play like Rockets by eliminating the mid-range game and going for either 3s or points in the paint. Melo was also poor on defense. It's great to get rid of him. We probably wouldn't have been in this current problem if we didn't sign him.
I hope Morey makes one or two more minor change before the all-star break.

Id even consider sliding him at SF tbh. He can do it. We are so so SOOO weak at SF it's insane. Paul can do PG. Harden is a SG Sadly....we can slide Rivers at SF when Paul returns. PJ Tucker/Capela are fine where they are. Gordon goes back to 6th man. Im not saying it's ideal, but man......SF is the weakness.

here we go boston! Well....all I can say is that I can't believe it. It seems waking up early in the morning is every bit paying off.
Many will say James is not being efficient but I say we are able to compete largely because of his bulk shooting. His fg% is low because he gets the worst shots of the team. Basically, he has to shoot when everyone else rejects. Still, I will take 8-18 from beyond the arc any day!
And Rocket Rivers is proving good on defense. Much needed support for us.

Gordon out for the next game against Griz with a knee injury. He could potentially miss 2 or 3 weeks or even more. So what do we do now? Even our makeshift starters are getting injured. Will Harden need to score 65 points now for us to win?
Rocket Rivers will start and the rehabilitating Brandon Knight who has player efficiency rating in negative will also get minutes.
Okay, so what now? Harden is having a unbelievable season and because of that we are back in the playoff picture. But now everyone is getting injured. 3 of our starters are out.

It's getting out of hand. Capela/Harden/Tucker seem to be the consistent. Gordon we can't lose. I honestly loved us signing Rivers. He isnt an all star but he can help us out at PG-SG-SF, I love how flexible he can be. IMO could be a season saving move....IF we can get healthy, and that's a major if. Harden is gonna be stuck playing 40+ minutes a night. IDK how we can even sit Cap at this point, not being this low. I admit I dont pay attention as much...where is Gerald Green?

aj and shady - would you argue it may be addition by subtraction - and quite possibly - the subtraction of CP3 and Melo means the Rockets may be 'The Rockets' again........

aj and shady - would you argue it may be addition by subtraction - and quite possibly - the subtraction of CP3 and Melo means the Rockets may be 'The Rockets' again........ Hey, welcome back Screaming! I slightly disagree with you. I believe CP3 adapted his game to the Rockets philosophy by taking a lot more 3s, unassisted 3s and playing even more iso ball than he ever did before. As a matter of fact, he was central to us almost beating the Warriors last season. His defense is absolutely necessary for us to have any chances. Yes, his performance has declined this season but if he can be healthy then I would expect him to get back to his former self. Harden is great but we rely so much on him that it's not possible for him to be perfect. CP3 would be equally important as Harden in the playoffs. I think shadyvsesham will probably agree with me. Yes, I totally agree with you on Melo. We would have been a much better team if we never had him. We are still paying for the stupid move to get him on our side.

Can my Rockets win today and give me a great new year gift? Almost all punters on the Covers forum seems to think there will be an upset tonight and the gritty Memphis will win as Houston will be short of 3 of their starters after Eric Gordon picked an injury to his knee.
Can we please win? Please please please...

Please please please... 4th 40 pt game in a row by Harden? π² The best thing about him is that he is constantly double teamed that gets the average players of Houston open looks and makes life easy for them. He is a great asset all around. Yes, he commits more TO than others but what would expect if the ball is almost always in his hand. 87% of his 3s are unassited. Compare that Curry who needs assistance from someone else for 70% of his 3s. Harden is doing something special. If this continues then it will turn into the greatest offensive sesson of Post Chamberlain era.

Nah, best thing about him is he can shoot .442 and still turn anything into a foul, while often moving into the defender and taking steps. Leader in free throw attempts in 6 of the last 7 years. 1.97 shots/FTA this year. He just got a foul call while getting out of bed.

He takes the worst shots of the team...Usually when everyone refuses to take. His 3% is decent and most of them are unassisted. Most other players 3% will drop significantly if they take the 3s like he does. He is perfectly deserving when he gets the calls on most occasions. He is is just 2 FT more than players like Durant so his haters are just full of hate. Lastly, he is having a great season and if it continues then another MVP is not far.
