How do you like him in horrors? Just finished watching The Beast with Five Fingers (1949). oh boy, what an amazing performance. The man was a sheer genius. Have seen many of his movies but not many horrors. But i do know he has done some horrors. So how much do you like him in horror genre? I know that cryptoflovecraft is a big fan of Lorre. Any more here?

Lorre in THE RAVEN .. generously sharing the spotlight with a couple of unknown extras. and with a kid who faded from Hollywood soon after this picture, never to be seen or heard from again.

He was always good in his horror roles with his best role being the creepy and lovelorn 'Dr. Gogol' in Mad Love (1935) imo. The serial killers he played in M (1931) and Stranger on the Third Floor (1940) were also memorable and those films, while not strictly horror, should easily appeal to most horror fans. His later horror roles tended to be more comedic but still effective: The Raven, Tales of Terror and The Comedy of Terrors (all with Vincent Price).

Have still got to see Mad Love and Stranger on the Third Floor. Good thing is that Mad Love is listed as horror so it can qualify for my October Horror Challenge!

Aj_June I have been wanting to see Mad Love but cannot find a free copy. The Face Behind the Mask is another Lorre that isn't listed as "horror" but kind of.. is !

Island of Doomed Men (1940). It seems to have some good reviews too and people in different user reviews on IMDB are saying Lorre was at his menacing best in this one.
The print quality is reasonably good.
