I'm hoping with the success of Halloween (2018) we see a revival of the slasher subgenere. It's personally my favorite subgenere of horror. Some reboots mixed in with some new ones could be good.

I just read that the studio that gave us Rings, gave up the rights to continue on from the 2009 Friday the 13th because Rings flopped. Bet they're regretting that now, considering all the moolah the new Halloween has made.

I welcome new additions to the genre. The same old hats are kind of stale.

Since JLC is still kicking ass in her 60s, maybe now we can get that coveted final girl team up movie in Friday the 13th 13.

I agree with Peter Vincent:
"I have just been fired because nobody wants to see vampire killers any more, or vampires either. Apparently all they want are demented madmen, running around in ski masks hacking up young virgins."

I welcome new additions to the genre. The same old hats are kind of stale. What do you mean by that? Is it just the Fridays, Halloweens, and Elm Streets that you don't want or slashers of any kind? Would you welcome new slashers?

Would you welcome new slashers? I mean, I hope this new Halloween is as good as people are saying...but I could live without reimaginations or sequels to those classic 80s slasher series. Halloween, F13 and Bightmare have given us plenty of solid watched but I’d like to see something else original to the genre. Adding to it with some newly inspired slashers.

The backlash seems to have sent slashers packing again, much like in the early pre-'Scream' 1990s. But unlike the early 1990s, there are still excellent low budget slashers being made, so I'm not unhappy.
