Lin Shaye first came to my attention in all those Farrelly brothers comedies she made in the 90's, and now she's become a modern day horror scream queen, appearing in tons of newer horror movies. I was surprised to learn just how deep her horror roots were, she was a teacher in the original A Nightmare On Elm Street and also Critters. One of my personal non-horror favorites is her role as the crazed parent in Detroit Rock City. That opening scene never gets old! Then along came a little movie called Insidious and she blew up into this hugely in demand horror actress. Every Lin Shaye movie I've Seen: Goin' South (1978) The Long Riders (1980) Alone in the Dark (1982) Jekyll and Hyde...Together Again (1982) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Brewster's Millions (1985) Critters (1986) My Demon Lover (1987) Extreme Prejudice (1987) The Hidden (1987) The Running Man (1987) Critters 2 (1988) Lucky Stiff (1988) Pump Up the Volume (1990) Book of Love (1990) Loaded Weapon I (1993) The Temp (1993) Three of Hearts (1993) Amityville: A New Generation (1993) Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993) Corrina, Corrina (1994) New Nightmare (1994) Dumb and Dumber (1994) Kingpin (1996) Last Man Standing (1996) There's Something About Mary (1998) Living Out Loud (1998) Detroit Rock City (1999) Me, Myself and Irene (2000) Say It Isn't So (2001) Boat Trip (2002) Dead End (2003) Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) Stuck On You (2003) A Cinderella Story (2004) Cellular (2004) Snakes on a Plane (2006) My Sister's Keeper (2009) Insidious (2010) A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011) Chillerama (2011) The Three Stooges (2012) Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) The Signal (2014) Grace: The Possession (2014) Ouija (2014) Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) Tales of Halloween (2015) Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) The Black Room (2017)

She's the sister of Robert Shaye, the founder of New Line Cinema, hence why she was in so many of those movies.
She's a fine presence, but I think she stood out the most to me in Detroit Rock City where she plays the self-righteous and ultra-conservative mother from Hell.

She's filming a role for that Grudge remake of the remake for 2019 release.

Lin Shaye's name appearing in the credits of any 21st century movie is pretty much a guarantee of crap. Say it isn't so...
dead end was ok, and one of her more sizeable roles. Generally speaking though, I can't stand her sht acting.
