Anyone seen it? Anyone going to see it? If so post your thoughts in here.
I really want to see it since I’m a big fan of the original. I bought Thom Yorke’s score for it on CD last Friday and it’s great, especially this magnificent song:

I like what I’ve seen so far. I’ll definitely try to see at the cinema, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a limited release where I live.
I really dig Thom Yorke’s score too. Very hypnotic, as it truly takes you on a trip. Great ambiance. Hope this becomes a stepping stone for him to score more films.

seeing it at Stockholm International film festival in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually think it will be better than the original since the original had the classical "old indie movie" cheesy atmosphere with the sub-par acting and, of course, the ADR dubbing doesn't help.
i refuse to watch trailers or read reviews beforehand.

Face it this is another Cure for Wellness from a commercial standpoint.
A gradual expansion wont help this movie much

[/quote] The director wants to make more films depending on how well this one does. It would be interesting if he reimagined "Inferno" and "Mother of tears" and completed the trilogy.

The movie is very different in style, but seems similar in tone, which is a good thing. If it isn’t playing worldwide, then I might not have a chance to see it in theatres. I’ll get it on video most likely.

this movie was not very good, i vastly prefer the original in all aspects besides maybe acting. but if you are looney that think films like Under The Skin are good, you'll probably like it

I give it a solid 7.7 out of 10. The dream sequences were fresh, the choppy editing was true to its predecessor, johnson and the rest of the cast were pretty likeable, i like the girl from cure of wellness. The finale was cringeworthy and outright discomforting. The ending was surprisingly heartfelt and substantive.

There's no comparison to the original film here. Suspiria 77 builds the tension and drama beautifully. This new film gives the big reveal away at the start.
Also our main character is utterly seduced by the dance school to the point where she is completely disconnected to the audience. Unlike the original, where Suzy keeps her sanity as we dive down the rabbit hole with her.
If your a fan of choppy editing (and I mean VERY choppy), characters that are hard to care about, meandering dialogue, over the top gore and Tilda Swinton dressed as a man then sure, you may like this new version. Otherwise steer clear.

This movie is going nowhere. Massive 67% drop this weekend. Poor Amazon studios also dont have a big international distribution system so they will dump it in a few cinemas across the world.

I enjoyed a lot of aspects about it, the slow burn, the production design, the art still dream sequences, the break up into chapters, the inventively grotesque first kill. I'm a big fan of the original but I liked that it took a completely different approach. Negatives: was too overt about the true nature of the academy too early and it lost me with the OTT climax.
