Reddit user Senor_Foggy’s theory suggests three rangers from the Night's Watch go beyond the wall, which is similar to season one's opening scene.

When there they begin to discuss the past which leads to a rather bizarre turn of events.

They talk of “The White Wolf, Jaime Goldenhand, Brienne the Beauty, The Imp of Casterly Rock, the Mother of Dragons, The Mad Queen, and Bran the Greenseer".

However, they start to debate whether they even ever existed, and that’s when they realise that it’s eerily silent.

“Suddenly there’s a strange noise in the woods, and the rangers get ready to fight the wildlings who they assume killed the first expedition,” Senor_Foggy wrote.

“Instead, a White Walker slowly walks towards them. And another. And another. They’re surrounded.

“As they descend on to the rangers in a circle, the ravens fly off, the screams of the rangers in the background."

The user finished: “As one raven flies off, its pupils return to normal as the Three-Eyed Raven (Crow) exits its mind.”

The user went on to point out how this ending would highlight George R. R. Martin’s point nothing ever changes.

“Our favourite characters are remembered for all of time, but only in legend,” the user explained.

“Their faults and human qualities that made them so real are lost, they become larger than life, with only their great deeds are remembered, not the very real, flawed people behind those deeds.”

There’s no word on how the battle for the Iron Throne and against the White Walkers ended

However, the White Walkers’ sneak attack on the group of Night’s Watch rangers could suggest it ended up being a stalemate and everything just went back to the way it was before.

This would be a slightly controversial ending since viewers would like a more definitive conclusion.

However, it would certainly be very much in keeping with Martin’s books.

Fans will have to wait until 2019 to find out how it’ll all end.

well then maybe the tyrion spoiler has something to do with this if your theory becomes true-cersei asks for it ? or sansa?

sorry if i sound cryptic dont want to spoil for others who may not have read spoilers and get blamed for it..lol

*** Jon Snow Predictions:

Since Azor Ahai's identity is still unclear, but might be Jon.. It is safe to say he will play a huge role in winning the war against the Night King (or broker a truce with him).. he will be praised as a hero and an iconic figure, and probably abandon the whole concept of Kings and Rulers.. He will probably form his own version of the Night's Watch (Reviving the concept of The Night's King).. their duty is protecting the realm, and Sansa if she rules in the end.. He might remain the ruler of the North.. but I personally assume that most of the North will be destroyed by the end of the series..

***Bran Stark Predictions:

I won't comment on his role as the 3-eyed Raven because it's unpredictable.. But I assume Bran will Revive the concept of "Bran the Builder" and rebuild Winterfell from the Ashes, after it gets destroyed by the Night King..

I assume he might warg into a dragon after Dany's death in order to help end the war..

** About Sansa & Tyrion:

To everyone who aren't seeing the annotations.. Sansa will NOT assassinate Tyrion.. technical mistake..

She might have knowledge of it or might mention it at some stage to Little Finger.. to give him the false belief that Sansa might call for him as a king.. I was pointing more towards little finger.. But Sansa will not necessarily be linked to Tyrions Death.. sorry for the confusion..

BUT... there is the possibility that Tyrion might hand the Iron Throne to his wife Sansa and head off to Meereen where he would rule Essos, establish relationships with the Bank of Braavos and unite the world under their united banner.

** Dany's death:

Her Dragons will start torching kingslanding after it gets flood by white walkers or maybe at another battle.. possibly setting the pots of wildfire buried underneath on fire which will cause the city and its people to ignite into green flames.. she then realizes she fulfilled her mad father's vision.. the guilt of dooming half a million people to this horrible death fills her.. further on she would learn about the "lightbringer" prophecy and sacrifice herself in order for the prince who was promised (whoever he may be) to create the lightbringer sword that would help fight the Night King..

I vaguely remember a statement from GRRM saying there was no message in his story, except maybe that the quest for power makes people do things. I wish I could say where I saw or heard it. It is in line with my interpretation of seeing all his "seemingly good guys" turning out being bad guys while his official "villains" end up not even being half as bad as the rest. And if the "good guys" turn into bad ones, then it is an obvious case of nothing ever really changing.

So they can pull a shitty ending with some forced return to the starting point or they can make the situation evolve into something adult with once naive children realising they've believed in stupidities. Sansa evolving into Cersei's daughter and taking power is the best way of showing this.

it will also keep the story going if GRMM decided to continue with the story with some extra books but if it ends the way the article says its stupid
i dont read many of GRMM books but if he has habit ending them like that , whats the point?

I haven't read anything else but Preston Jacobs has read loads of them and never predicted that sort of silly ending. To me it is a strong hint that there is no such habit. People should expect some sort of fucked up ending, though, definitely not some happy climax.

Here's a promise, by the way: if Cersei lives, I'll refrain from saying how shitty the rest was
