Naomi Watts will star in the “Game of Thrones” prequel pilot at HBO that hails from Jane Goldman, Variety has learned. The exact details of Watts’ character are being kept under wraps, but it is known she is playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” It was recently announced that Watts had signed on to play Gretchen Carlson in the Roger Ailes limited series currently in the works at Showtime. She previously appeared in Showtime’s revival of “Twin Peaks,” and is known for her roles in films like “Mulholland Drive,” “I Heart Huckabees,” “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” “St. Vincent,” “The Ring,” “King Kong, and “J. Edgar.” Watts also earned Academy Award nominations for her roles in “21 Grams” and “The Impossible.” She is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson. Simply based on her appearance and the ‘thousands of years’ comment... I am immediately suspecting her to be Visenya or Rhaenys Targaryen and the story to follow Aegons conquering of Westeros.
But I think Aegon was only hundreds of years earlier.

I don't see a 50 year old in the role of one of Aegon's sisters.

But I think Aegon was only hundreds of years earlier. Aegon's landing took place 300 years before the events in of a Song of Ice and Fire but she playing a Targaryen was the first thing I thought. I was kind hoping they would do an adaptation of The Dance of Dragons or the Blackfyre rebellions.

From the article: "Taking place thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Goldman’s project chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour."

But I think Aegon was only hundreds of years earlier. If it happened during or shortly after the Age of Heroes, it could be before Valyria's existence (Perhaps even before the Wall. I can't remember). Of course, there is a possible connection between Valyria and The North (I think there is, but it hasn't been explained yet)

I shall have fun speculating.
The Amethyst Empress survived the Bloodstone Emperor's attempt to murder her? The BSE's "tiger woman" wife? The woman with the monkey's tail who helped end the Long Night? A founding member of House Dayne/Hightower/Stark? The BSE was a woman this whole time? Some combination of the above?

I don't see a 50 year old in the role of one of Aegon's sisters. GOT had multiple leads. It's possible she's playing a different character.

Even Valyrian Steel existed in some form or another back then before it was called that Nearly all of the cool castles were built around this time although they will unfortunately look like the TV versions I assume

I think Valyria is directly tied to the Children of the Forest, Westeros, the North, &/or Dragonstone (The Targaryens knew this in one way or another which is why they moved)

With Game of Thrones, they often use wigs (Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke) or have the actors dye their hair (Emilia Clarke did so for the last season). It's fun to guess though.
