THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD has great animation and some catchy songs, but it doesn't have a single interesting character. ICHABOD CRANE OR THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW has a very scary sequence, but it's hard to really praise it because: A) It happens in the last 5 minutes or so. B) It doesn't fit with the rest of the segment, which is a romantic comedy that follows a formula closer to Warner Bros than Disney (bad things happen to the villain by accident whenever he tries to do something bad to the hero). I know that modern viewers have to keep the time period in mind whenever an old movie does something questionable, but the way the female characters are treated like objects (literally!) is just offensive. MR. TOAD OR THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS doesn't have anything noteworthy bad. It's just incredibly boring. 3/10 SLEEPY HOLLOW 1999 6/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

I strenuously disagree with just about everything you wrote. I also think one has to have the most delicate sensibilities on planet Earth to be offended by something as simultaneously charming and spooky as The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Oy. And, Vits, for the billionth time, two movies don’t become a “franchise” because they’re based on the same source material.

Also, Vits, please, I’m begging you: don’t post your reviews in three or four, or a million, places every single time. Just post them in one place! OK? That’s what the rest of us do. Everyone gets the message. I know you don’t respond to my posts now for whatever reason, but please take this to heart as friendly advice. Please!

Please! 1) What I said that offended me wasn't meant to be spooky. Probably not charming either. It was meant to be funny. 2) Would you rather I created different threads for each installment? 3) Some users only see certain boards. 4) Where did that come from? When have I not replied to you? "Not interesting" "boring" and yet has been watched and loved for over FIFTY YEARS ! am seeing a definite trend in these "reviews" … but 1) Never in these boards or my entire life have I said my opinion is the absolute truth. I'm just expressing it; not telling others that they should think the same way. 2) And what trend might that be? 3) They're not reviews, though.

OK, Vits , OK, please try to understand this. I’m going to write a few points (not in order of your points), and then I’m out. 1. You never respond to the franchise thing. When I or others have brought this up to you before, you’ve never responded. I can only assume this is intentional. 2. You’re offended at Katrina’s coquettishness, right? Which is really a silly thing to be offended at. Why must be all take offense at everything nowadays anyway? But that’s a different debate. 3. “Some users only see different boards.” Uh, yeah. Let me tell you something, and I’m sorry if this comes off as nasty, but it’s true (please don’t be, er, offended): many people don’t care what your opinion is. OK? Many people also don’t care what my opinion is. That’s fine. Just a fact of life. Not everybody needs to see it. There are people here who don’t like me and and don’t want to see what I’ve written. Fine. I don’t post what I write on four or five boards! Nobody here does that except for you and RiP, IMDb, who’s been criticized for this as well! People see your threads all over the place. Give other people a chance. 4. I’d prefer, pal, if you just create fewer threads. I see your stuff over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. No one wants that. 5. We understand that it’s your opinion. I’m happy that it’s your opinion. That doesn’t mean that you should copy and paste your opinion four or five times throughout these boards. It also doesn’t mean that you can’t make an effort to understand why other people like these movies. Most of us do. Offhand, a classic I’ve never developed a taste for is 2001: A Space Odyssey. I know why people like it, but I respectfully disagree. I’m offended by it, I don’t hate it, and I don’t post that I’m not a fan of it over and over again. I don’t imply that other people are “overrating” it. I just write my opinion. That’s all. And, when I review (critically assess) a movie, I don’t play semantic games: I call it a review, not a comment.

RE 2) Would you rather I created different threads for each installment?
Would prefer that you don't call them "franchises" or "installments" when they are STAND ALONE MOVIES. You are using incorrect terminology which is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
RE" 3) "comments" = "reviews" and the 2) trend is "I don't LIKE Old movies and don't understand why anyone else does." and "I am pretty easily bored". These are your threads and you will do what you like of course BUT if you post opinions, you may get some counter opinions back that you won't particularly like even tho' they are presented in a civil manner. Nothing can be done about that <shrug> BTW .. posting a THREAD TITLE in all caps is considered as SHOUTING and is internet rude ! But , you have been told that before too so....

I don’t imply that other people are “overrating” it. I just write my opinion. That’s all. And, when I review (critically assess) a movie, I don’t play semiotic games: I call it a review, not a comment. 1) I don't reply to that because, even if I'm wrong, it doesn't seem like a big deal. It's just a more practical way for me to keep the comments in order. I don't think you should get angry over it. 2) What gave you that idea? No, it's how BROM uses (literally) a woman at the party and gets scared by her. All of this just because she's large and unattractive. 3) I know not everyone cares. I knew that even before I started posting on the original IMDB forums. I write the title of the movie for each thread so that people can decide to click on it and read it. If they don't, fine by me. If they read it but don't reply, fine by me. And why do you say I don't give others a chance? Because they all appear at the same time in page 1 of each board? That only applies to Film General, where people post every minute, but not other boards (especially the genre ones). You don't believe me? Am I one of those users who bumps their own threads until someone replies? No. 5) Again: Why do you say that? Because I don't acknowledge it on my post? What would be the point? If a movie is an old classic or a modern hit, everyone knows it already. When have I implied that a movie is overrated? I explained the difference between "comment" and "review" in the other thread. if you post opinions, you may get some counter opinions back that you won't particularly like even tho' they are presented in a civil manner. posting a THREAD TITLE in all caps is considered as SHOUTING and is internet rude ! But , you have been told that before too 1) My main purpose for posting here is getting counter opinions. I just don't like it when they're not presented in a civil manner. Some users say "I disagree because..." and that's OK; others say "You're wrong" or "There are ulterior reasons behind what you've said" and that's not OK. 2) I don't remember ever being told about that. Either way, I write titles that way. It saves space. Yes, quotations marks are only 2 characters, but there's a limit, so why take the risk?

Vits 2) now you have been told again .. it's shouting and unless you are announcing a traditional weekly game on the CFB, it's generally considered rude and an unnesessary HEY LOOK AT MY POST FIRST ploy. Just letting you know to help you as a relative newbie learn the traditions of the area.
