Beetlejuice comes to mind. But it wasn't originally intended for children and it's a comedy. It arguably has more comedy than horror. So it also has to be entirely humorless? Well... Yes. I said it in the O.P.

I said it in the O.P. At this point it kind of just seems that you're setting up parameters that are essentially impossible to make some sort of elusive and cryptic point. Hardly any horror movie is entirely humorless, even those that I'd imagine you can't deny are 'straight up horror' by your definition.

Maybe Monster House? It has a lot of humor and even some adult content here and there, sure, but definitely seems essentially like a horror movie made for kids.

Maybe Monster House? It has a lot of humor You answered yourself right there. Alright then what you’re looking for doesn’t exist. There isn’t a single horror film (or any movie in general for that matter) that is entirely without humor. Monster House is a serious family friendly horror movie with humor in it, but it’s not a straight up comedy all the time.

I'm not sure what his angle is, but he's clearly trying to set up some impossible standard that he would argue whatever title mentioned does not fit. The point of it all is elusive, but at least now it's clear that this is not a serious question or discussion.

There isn’t a single horror film (or any movie in general for that matter) that is entirely without humor. But that's not what I said. The example can have humour; just not enough to be considered a horror comedy. I'd argue that MONSTER HOUSE is a little more about the comedy than the horror. I'm not sure what his angle is, but he's clearly trying to set up some impossible standard that he would argue whatever title mentioned does not fit. No. I'm trying to confirm if an impossible standard set by others does in fact exist or if there's an exception that would make this standard not really impossible. I'm not rejecting examples to be mean or anything like that.

Fair enough, but I don't think there could ever exist a straight up horror film aimed towards kids that takes itself too seriously without a whole lot of levity.

We had this whole discussion/argument out here as well, but the OP didn’t believe this (which I also noted to him).

I thought it might've been my fault, but others did understand it. No, I think I did. And if I didn’t, I still don’t know what it is, and neither does masterofallgoons . You’re looking for a movie with minimal humor. OK. But when we recommend movies with minimal humor, you say it’s still too humorous. So we’re forced to conclude that you want a movie with no humor—which doesn’t exist, which is the conclusion you expected to reach anyway. But forget it, forget it! I don’t know why I’m still debating this with you. I think that what you’re looking for doesn’t exist. That’s what you wanted us to say, so, OK, it doesn’t exist.

Something Wicked This Way Comes Labyrinth The Black Cauldron The Gate 9
9 is more of a genre mix of horror and sci fi steam punk than just horror but its still full of creepy disturbing images

Hell, I'd argue that those moments were more suspenseful than anything. 2) You answered yourself right there.
