78 and 18.
It was close between that, 4-6 and H20, but I find that those other just had weak links to their timelines (5 and Resurrection).

Yeah pretty much. 4 is pretty solid, but then 5 is kind of a mess and I can't make sense of 6. Then H20 is decent enough, but then Resurrection is appallingly awful. This new continuity is the only one with no terrible entries. I have some affection for Halloween 3 as well.

To be fair, the new continuity has only 2 canonical entries, so it isn’t much fair to compare it with the other timelines.

Perhaps if we give it time they'll run this one into the ground as well.

But yeah, I'm sure this new timelime will probably go to hell sooner than later. I'm going with it because of the lack of family plotline more than not having a bad entry yet.

The new timeline, definitely. It's such a shame that a sequel is inevitable. The new movie is such a nice bookend to the original and the two stand together quite nicely, untarnished.
I have affection for the various timelines/characters and all that, but all previous timelines are FUBAR.

The first one because I don’t like attempting to rewrite history.

The first one because I don’t like attempting to rewrite history. But even the first one did that, kinda. They sort of claimed the 2nd ended differently and that the explosion didn't kill the 2 people that that movie was clearly telling us it did. And then you have to accept parts 5 and 6. I get it, but they're all a mess.

I do agree the whole timeline is kind of a mess tho.

Yeah, it's not really the same thing, but it is ignoring what was a clear intention to end the series. I'm ok, to degree, with ignoring whole movies when they are Halloween 5, 6, and Resurrection. We obviously don't need more sequels (to any movie really), but if they're gonna happen anyway I understand the approach. There's no making sense of what was done before.

If really pushed to include further films, I'd go for HALLOWEEN (78) followed by HALLOWEEN II (81) and leave it at that. I'd exclude H20 (even though it was a respectable entry by this series standards) simply because Loomis sacrificing himself to end Myers' reign was a very satisfying conclusion to any follow up. Sadly, this option isn't listed either......just me being awkward perhaps!
