Over a million people cut the cord getting rid of their cable leading to the biggest quarterly loss for the industry.
Honestly I just don't understand paying for commercials. And you have to pay more for decent channels like TCM or HBO. Right now my Dad is paying for cable but when it is up to me I'm going to cut the cord.

I gave up on tv by 2005.
Turn off the idiot box!
Seriously though, if I want something I wait for a youtube highlight.

Number sounds extremely low. Cut the cord long time ago.

I cut the cord a couple years ago. Hopefully this is a wake up call to the cable companies out there. I use to have Time Warner and my bill would go up by a crazy amount out of the blue. I would go downtown to the office and talk to them and they would always lower it. Spectrum took over a few years ago and the bill went up out of the blue. I went downtown and was told nothing could be done. The guy even joked, "I could raise it for you if you want." I went home, unhooked the box, and it went back.
Another thing that always irked me was they would offer cheap packages and they would always be for new customers. I understand that they are trying to land new business, but why shaft loyal customers?

I got rid of it in 2015. Bought decent antenna, converter box, pick up about 25 channels, and I can stream pretty much anything else.

I'm trying to talk the people I live with into cutting the cord. I have Dish Network and HBO/Cinemax just removed their channels.

I stream everything now. There is no need to pay those prices anymore.

Assuming you are talking about 1 million Americans..........Considering that the population of the US is about 330 million if i am not mistaken. 1 million is really not that big of a deal.
