... instead of being recaptured on Halloween night? Being released after the whole #MeToo hysteria, it actually plays with that subtly and really well, especially with fears of revictimization with Laurie's character, which is only elevated with JLC's performance. But it's one thing to be afraid of someone breaking out of a prison and attacking you again, but I think there's a whole different level of fear and anxiety of someone who is still out there and being afraid every day of when they'd attack again and that could have really developed Laurie's character and her relationship with her friends and family because she knows Michael is still alive and will kill again eventually. Obviously, there's the contrivance the writers would have to come up with as to why Michael waited 40 years, but it's really no different than finding a way for Michael to keep returning on Halloween night.

I agree. I enjoyed the film but Michael being captured kind of dampens the impact of the original's ending. Plus, if he wasn't captured then we wouldn't have needed to waste 15-20 minutes of screentime with those useless podcasters.

That would have been better. It would’ve eliminated that plot hole of how he even got captured.

No. I don't think I could buy that. If he had just been missing and suddenly reemerged it rasies too many questions about where he has been, what he's been doing, and why he's coming home now. Then I would have pictured him sleeping next to a homeless man again.

But if he disappeared for 40 years, where was he? How was he hiding? Who was grooming him? I can imagine from what we see of Michael....on his own, hiding, his bathing habits would be pretty low. Hell you'd probably smell him from 2 miles away. Nah...I think the way they wrote it was best.

I would rather have seen it. Y’know, show don’t tell.

Yes. It would have been much better. I haven't seen that movie yet, but I'm already disappointed.

Well, it kinda begs the question would Michael even bother with grooming or smart enough to think of doing that...? -like breaking into a store and stealing some scissors or a razor and maintaining an appearance rather than let everything growing out if he was on the run for 40 years!?

Michael's always been pretty smart and calculating.
