when i was young & saw it in the theater, it was good 7/10, but as time moves on i like it less & less.
great actors like gary oldman & bruce willis, & many good elements & visuals... but the plasticity of everything, the "style over substance," not to mention that Luc Besson is a hack & a blatant thief (he was sued for Lockout 2012 for copying Escape from NY/LA).
his only good movies were La Femme Nikita & Leon: The Professional, everything else he made feels superficial at best.
now that i think about it, this movie was a really bad influence on sci-fi in general, because its all down hill in the post-modern era...
what this movie says about the future is unsettling, everyone looks "pretty," and everyone is fucking dumb. hooray, i guess we made it.

I loved it, still do, a 9 for me. This movie should be fairly similar to Besson's new movie later this year, Valerian. I do hope it's even better, given the source material of that movie.
Fifth Element does show that he can bring a nice visual side to things. Here's hoping!

7/10. It was basically a lightweight & silly version of "Blade Runner."

7/10. It was basically a lightweight & silly version of "Blade Runner." I don't see anything related with the two?

It was pretty to look at as was naked Milla mmmmmm. That said the plot and most everything else was shit. Only Milla's hotness made her character semi bearable. Every other character I wanted to punch repeatedly seconds after they were introduced. Tiny Lister as The President?!!! WTF?!!! To sum up what a moronic embarrassment the movie was the fifth element was LOVE!!!!!! Need I say more?
3/10
