š
Chinese fast food in local village. This one is goddam awesome. Chips can be hit or miss, but they have great selection of food.
Three shops within walking distance.
A garage a littl e further in case shops are shut.
A library open 3 days a week....yeah there's a better one in the nearest big town.
In the nearest big town - a kebab joint that gives you far better kebabs than any other godforsaken hole in South Wales. I got one in Cardiff - no taste whatsoever.
Kickass Indian restaurants
While my local Chinese can do good chips, there is a fish and chip place in town that does better fish, and they give you a piece of lemon to squeeze all over it.
Bus service could be better but at least I can get to Cardiff.
Train station in near town - kinda sucks there's no stop in my area, but a welcome addition to the area.
If you like aircraft - you see a lot. I live next to a military base, which has civilian companies that either fix or scrap aircraft, it has South Wales Police helicopter squadron and HM Coast Guard choppers. Further away, but visible when waltzing down to village, Cardiff Airport, which is not actually in Cardiff, it is in a place called Rhoose.
Now that I remember Rhoose, there is a fish bar of high acclaim.
Near Rhoose, is Fontygary Park, for those too cheap to go to...
Barry Island - which has fun rides!!!!a
Happy Jakes - a caravan park. A former colleague had camped there, and asked if I had been there. This particular place is about 40 minute walk from where I live. I would have to be one sad bastard to take a holiday at a place 40 minute walk from my back garden, I might aswell tent there!

Really deep religious topic you got here, Proggy. What's so great about where I live? Let's see. It's very quiet, except for the occasional sharp crack of gunfire as someone gets in a little target practice, but here no one freaks out and calls the police. I think that gun control advocates like WarrenPeace wouldn't like it very much.

I came to Mumbai (Bombay) just day before yesterday. I was only here once before for 6 hours when I was 12 so effectively this is my first time in the city. Well, it seems as If I have come to a different country altogether. Every thing is different from Delhi. Mumbai is supposedly the financial capital of India and the biggest city in terms of population and economy.
But it's so different. The street food is totally different. Even the shops are so different. Restaurants have different style of seats and people look different and speak differently. People are more friendly here than In Delhi but I was used to north. I will see how I like it here in next 15 days.

Nearest mosque bit further out. Cardiff has the lot. By random luck, I found the Mormon Church a few weeks ago. š

Very true! But most St. Louisans don't visit the Arch. At least, not after grade school.

And here I was thinking you were going to say something nice, like NYC has more belly dancers than any other city in the world.

In Richmond and I suppose most large cities in the United States you can get almost any food you want. If you don't like it where you are you can go across the street or across the aisle if you're in Walmart and get it the way you like. What few things Walmart does not have you can find specialty restaurants that do have it.
I haven't seen any calamari in a long time. It is probably somewhere in Richmond though. Like most seafood it depends a lot for flavor on additional ingredients, as reports go anyway. Aioli sauce is supposed to be good with calimari. It's a fine art.
Virginia has really great "red delicious" apples. The "golden delicious" apples were better in Oklahoma, but I don't know how that happens.
Virginia is famous for ham, especially Smithfied company's hams. I don't know much about that either
Before Walmart happened along and for quite some time after that the Ukrops chain of grocery stores had really great food prepared in advance. That changed ownership a few times though. You can still get that quality of prepared in advance food at Publix which is in many of the same buildings as Ukrops was and with many of the same employees.
Where the "city mouse" and the "country mouse" are concerned Virginia was a good balance of both. Once called a "purple" state, it has gone "city mouse" (Just an expression, I'm talking about people, not actual mice.) on us probably because of proximity to Washington D.C. and the disorganization of the "country mice." You can probably tell from there how disarrayed the "country mice" are over here.

Close to the mountains, the beach, the desert, and cities like San Diego and LA. Also close to Mexico.
