And he'd make it along the lines of a horror movie. Oh man, he'd be great if Man-Bat or Solomon Grundy were the villains.

I wonder if he’ll make it into a Saw-like mystery film. Now that would be something I’d like to check out!

Scarecrow would be the perfect villain for that because of the fear gas. I'd see that.

Give him Scarecrow as the main antagonist and I'll support this.

Glad it did not go that way. Everybody wants to direct a Batman movie it seems. Problem is there are superb Batmovies already.
One solid Aquaman movie is worth more than yet another superb Batman movie.
It's as simple as that.

He’d be a great choice for directing an adaptation of The Long Halloween.

He could base it on The Long Halloween, Thrillkiller, Haunted Knight, Mask, or The Cult. Or the most obvious would be an Arkham Asylum movie with all the scariest rogues. Scarecrow, Grundy, Man-Bat, Mad Hatter. Maybe the Joker. It'd be a great time to introduce Zatanna or Constantine into the films as well.
I say let him do it. I'd love to see a trilogy of Batman films that could all be considered different genres. Matt Reeves noir mystery, a James Wan horror, then a third film could be something with some John Wick style action with Deathstroke.

Doesn't every comic book director want to make a Batman film?

Doesn't every comic book director want to make a Batman film? Fifteen years ago, if Nolan's name hadn't come up I'd immediately suggest David Fincher. He'd have been perfect.
