She seems to have made an impression on him. I read that he asked if Ridley would be in Ep8 again when they asked him to score it. I found it a little creepy, but likely he's just old school charming. He's John Williams after all.

I cannot scientifically (or music theoretically) prove it, but it just is so.
Eat your hearts out Korngold, Hermann, Goldsmith and young generation.

Whoa, Wait a second. I myself actually also think that Jerry Goldsmith is 1 of the Top 10 Greatest Movie Music Composers of All-Time.

Not in scope mind you, ranging from experiemental PotA/Alien to grandious classical StarTrek 1 score, and so much in between, Goldsmith is the more nuanced composer.
But facing William's masterworks, it's a little bit like A Salieri against W.A Mozart, or at least Lv Beethoven against Mozart (though I like Beethoven better).

I wonder when this took place. Before or after TFA?

He's great (I saw him in concert in the 80s), but Ennio Morricone is the greatest living composer.
