No. I'd be lying if I said I had any interest.

My most eagerly awaited film in 2018. I'm just sad that I won't catch it on the big screen.
The nearest theatre showing to me is 107 miles away. So it will be Netflix on Friday.

It is getting a lot of critical and award praise, but it is never going to have a wider appeal outside of a limited arthouse crowd and I highly doubt it is a film that viewers would want to re-vist often, even if at all. In that case, it would be a shoo in for best picture by the Academy. Nah, it seems they already have a favourite in mind.

What on earth are you basing that sweeping statement on? You tell me, since you seem to know so much more about quality cinematic tastes. You want me to tell you why you've written something on the internet? Seriously?

You want me to tell you why you've written something on the internet? Seriously? You are the one that seems to think that it will be remembered and revered, or implying something of the sort. The film looks like a technically well made, pretentious and ponderous historical social statement for elitist snobs to ruminate how the masses just don't get the art of serious cinema. Seriously?
If I see it—which I think will be highly unlikely, because life is too short—I would probably get what I expect, and that would be a self-indulgent, self-important and overlong foreign language film that got made because it could be, not because it needed to be.
I said nothing of the sort. I haven't seen the movie. It might be terrible. I have no idea how it is going to be received by viewers. You on the other hand seem quite sure that nobody will rewatch it. Which I called you on because that is an extremely odd thing to state. If you don't want to be called out for spouting nonsense, don't spout nonsense. PS. No film needs to be made. Save perhaps for some educational ones. So that's more nonsense you're spouting.

Yeah, but you are implying it, so nonsense is a nonsense does.
You just don't want to hear it being bagged out. I bet you are all excited about it. Enjoy it, but I'd say you will be in a very small minority that will. I really couldn't give a monkeys if it was just me among the 6 billion people on the planet that enjoys it mate. I'm just perplexed at your amazing ability to tell the future.

I just watched it. It is completely incredible. One of the best films of the year no doubt. Technically brilliant. Massively emotional. Superb aesthetics.
I'll be watching it over and over and over again.

It's not for the story or the acting but for the experience.
The story follows a maid, and subsequently the family for whom she works, for few years in Mexico city. The story isn't the most original and the acting , while on point, might not be the best seen this year.
What makes this movie special is the cinematography, a category for which Roma might be the top contender at the Oscars.
The scenes are sharp and animated (you always have something going at the front, the back or the side, so it's always lively), the camera angles and movements are precise and well calculated and the details in each shots nearly tell you a story of their own.
The tone is also interesting in the sense that it walks the line. It is light enough to keep you interested for 2 hours without falling into a simple cold display of camera-work mastery yet it is serious enough for the whole thing not to become a big joke, despite it's activity and crazy moments.
Solid 9/10.

"Small" story told with stunning visuals. Top 3 for the year.

The best things that I liked about this film is all in the execution for this story especially in the cinematography, directing, visuals, and performance.
I'd expect Cuarón to earn several accolades out of this piece (especially in the department of cinematography, screenplay, and/or director) with BFLF not out of the question.

Yup, the camera position was precisely calculated, so all you needed was a little movement to the left, right or upwards to get the whole scene.
