"elaborate" you keep using that word; I do not think it means you think it means.
And yet you are the one who doesn't appear capable of doing it. Elaborate on what, Norm? Ask for it and I will.

You criticize MCU for, as you say, "toilet" humor, or by extension, turd jokes as you like, yet when a non-MCU films do it, you let it slide. Hell, even Venom makes a turd joke but you don't care. George "Stepping in Poo" Lucas does it, he's the greatest director ever and the prequels are masterpieces. But you're welcome to play dumb all you want.

My post is an abridged version of the OP minus the comically transparent attempt to sugarcoat elements of the movie that the OPer usually abhores. I added nothing. What part of that didn’t you understand? If/when I post my own view of the movie, I’ll state it as such ... so you don’t get confused again. Mmmkay? No. You were trolling. And you spelled shiny with two Ns.

Is this sh*t worth blowing $17 on imax 3D or should I just catch it on a regular screen on $4 day? You should find a cheaper IMAX, because that would be the first best choice. Otherwise do your $4 thing. You'll probably end up wanting to go again at the IMAX.

Elaborate on what, Norm? Ask for it and I will. That little GIF just screams out asshole to me. Especially since that asshole didn't earn those rings and got them through fraudulent means. It's like Bernie Madoff living in his fancy mansion and having big parties but all of that came through fraudulent means. Only assholes like Shady Brady and Bernie Madoff would be proud of that and only assholes like Shady Brady and Bernie Madoff would celebrate something they got by fraudulent means.

I do not appreciate toilet humor much, but it will depend how (i) low, (ii) lazy and (iii) how many times such joke occur: examples Lowbrow: eg GotG 2 relentless penis, turd and nipples idiocy. Middlebrow: eg indirect, passing toilet jokes al la Mandarin scenes (I wouldn't go in there for 20 minutes! ): unnecessary, dumb, but don't care in either way. Highbrow: no excrement references, just a clever trope reversal a la Aquaman "toilet" joke, where you have the trope of a drowning man reversed. Thus my: " there is actually a good "toilet" joke if there ever was one (with an actual toilet)". It's just not the same thing as "Hahaha i have famously huge turds". Now show me where I ever defended the single turd reference in Venom, or Jar Jar stepping in poo (wich was nagged to death) in the background frame. You are welcome to be dumb all you want.

I was asked to elaborate. I have done so. That is how these discussions work. "elaborate" you keep using that word; I do not think it means you think it means.
I think it means to, add more detail to what was already said ... what do you think it means? ... when you asked me to add more detail to what I already said? BTW, that is an old gif. TB now has five rings.

As laid out, within the lowly toilet humor realm, a visual gag showing an land-invading fishman suffocating due to his broken water-helmet and forced to get oxygen from the water closet is a witty trope reversal from space and deep sea exploration films.
But I do not expect you to get the difference. You would have loved it if there was a famouly huge turd in closet and he sqealed "land tuuuurd" under water.

Okay, so some jokes are better than others - convenient but undeniably true.
So maybe you would care to share with the group what you found so painfully unamusing about Ragnarok, for instance?
Moreover, maybe you would like to offer a few words as to why you consider Aquaman to be a better movie than Ragnarok?

there is nothing convenient about nuance, false dilemma are however.
I do not see what would warrant the sudden shift of the goalposts into Fragglerock territory? But as you ask nicely and as I just explained that in my very last post, I will enlighten you (search my posting histiry for more elaborate thoughts, you are good with that) .
imdb2.freeforums.net/post/2411996/thread
Also, "painfully unamusing" is what I'd call the lowbrow Guardians movies; the - comparatively - middelbrow Thor:Fragglerock entails completely different issues: it's trash from a mythological source material, story/character/theme continuity and botched screenplay perspective.

It seems to me that most of your criticism is based around the fact that Ragnarok isn't the movie you think it should be, rather than judging it on it's own terms.
What would you say are the 5 worst things about the movie itself? (Answers like it trashed Norse mythology and theme continuity don't count - try to comment on the choices that were made and not those you think should have been made)

I’m reminded of the time when DC-Fan spent endless hours trying to make the case that BvS was a “near masterpiece”.
I don’t think H2Oman is going to fare much better.
