These are beautiful films, brilliantly made by Warner Brothers. The art and animation are perfect, and the CGI, when it occurs, is not overwhelming. Frank Welker, Mindy Cohn, Grey DeLisle, and Matthew Lillard are great as the voices of the main characters, and there are numerous "guest stars" who voice other ones.
The only one I really don't like is ALOHA, SCOOBY DOO. Not that it isn't well made (it is), but I hate the final denouement. I won't say what it is, so first-time viewers can judge for themselves.

Any particular thoughts on Zombie Island and The Witch's Ghost? Those two are my favorites of these Scooby Doo films. The latter is particularly well plotted, and the former has a good voice role for Adrienne Barbeau!

Zombie Island was actually the last Scooby Doo movie I ever saw and I loved it, I saw part of the Witch's Ghost, I liked the music, but for me at 11 years old, I thought the formula was changing too much and I lost interest. I like the 80s movies with Shaggy and the Scoobs, and the older cartoons.

ZOMBIE ISLAND and THE WITCH'S GHOST are two of the best animated films ever made. But I don't think I'd recommend them to small children. Might give them nightmares.
I also love THE ALIEN INVADERS. It showed a multi-layered Shaggy who wasn't just a comic buffoon. I especially love the scene where Shaggy and Scooby said goodbye to their ladies, and Fred burst into tears. First time I ever saw Fred actually showing human emotion.
Sorry, but I hate the H-B cartoons such as GHOUL SCHOOL, THE RELUCTANT WEREWOLF, and THE BOO BROTHERS. IMO, they're poorly and cheaply made and totally unentertaining. Worst of all, there is no Fred, Daphne, or Velma. Just the unnecessary Scrappy.

Those first two they released were excellent. I'd rather had seen those in the theater than the live action ones.

Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy! (2006) and Scooby-Doo! and the Goblin King (2008) are two of the latest of the DTV Scooby-Doo movies that I have seen and I have not been too much impressed by either of them. Poorly written, and very lousy/rushed animation/CGI and ended up rating the both with a very kind 4/10. I did get the chance to watch Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf (1988) earlier this year (or it could be last year) and while the storyline was rather forgettable, the animation was superior in every way. Used to love watching the cartoons as a kid but none of the films (specially the terrible live action ones from 2002-04) did anything for me, and whenever I find a dirt cheap DTV Scooby-Doo release, I go in with very small hopes of anything higher than a 5/10.

I agree. The Scooby Doo direct to video movies are good. Scooby Doo On Zombie Island and Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase are my favorite direct to video Scooby Doo movies.

I really like Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. I love the premise of being trapped in a video game and having to advance through the levels. My other favorite, which was made for TV not video, is Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers. The treasure hunt concept is great and I love the background designs of the plantation.

Unfortunately, on the last couple of movies, such as SCOOBY-DOO AND THE MASK OF THE BLUE FALCON, some of the characters are drawn too "cartoony" and unrealistic. IMHO, this lessens the effectiveness of the story line.

Wow, I responded to this one in February of last year. Time flies.
I should probably try to track down Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost some time this month—it’s a fun, breezy, moderately spooky kids’ cartoon flick that also manages to provide good New England Hallowe’en atmosphere (if only Salem looked like this, instead of the commercialized tourist trap it is) and a clever mystery-twist. Objectively speaking, Zombie Island is probably the better of the two—it’s the only one that truly deserved a theatrical release, it’s that good—but I’ve always preferred Witch’s Ghost mostly for the autumnal atmospherics.

Nalkarj Well, if YOU like them, they can't be all that bad I mean, the straight-to-video movies are nothing fantastic, but they’re fun. Zombie Island has good animation (and Adrienne Barbeau!) and is pretty spooky by Scooby Doo standards, and Witch’s Ghost has some good fall atmosphere and a gloriously hammy Tim Curry as Stephen King! As usual with Scooby, the titular annoying canine is the worst part of the enterprise, but these are still fun little movies.

IMHO, he is merely a reflection of his cowardly, food hog of a master. Shaggy is really the annoying one in most of these movies. And when truly provoked, Scooby is a real hero!
